Trying to figure out what the value of a BJ70 is in the US Market.
Truck in question is super clean 1986 model, gasoline engine, 5 speed, with 52k miles "original" - AC and power windows -everything functional
Claims to be a "survivor" with original paint - but of course tough to say
Seller is asking $35k

You sure it’s a BJ70? This usually is a 3B Diesel engine. Get a picture of the firewall tag.
Sorry for the confusion on my part (ignorance) - I am not sure - in fact it probably is not - it has a gas engine - I can get a photo and post it here - I just meant it is a 70 series - it is a 3 door SWB model LHD.

Seems high to me, as i've been seeing some go on BaT for $30k with the HZ engine.

yeah - I am passing on it....the thing is really clean without any obvious rust except the exhaust - but needs steering, suspension, clutch at a min.
The paint was so good I had a hard time believing it was original but saw no obvious signs of a repaint - even with the excise tax and shipping to get it here - it's probably worth 22-25 max. I offered 26 and got rejected... which was too high probably....miles are not documented but the condition of the truck was really good so they could be original miles

Maybe it was "restored" in SA - meaning stripped down and repainted ? IDK

Freely admit that I am not qualified to make inferences here about work done etc...just curious what more experienced folks have to say

Well, it was definitely re-painted. After market radio too boot. Rhino / Raptor Lined on front hood and fenders...I wouldn't pay more than 8K.

totally repainted. The hardlines on the firewall are not red. Same with the heater hose lines.

All the rubber parts are cracking and will probably fail anytime now. Not too mention Toyota doesn't use Worm/Drive hose clamps.
Wire splices
Hole in the exhaust
leaky dirty engine/tcase

Look at the wires from the back door to the body. paint overspray.

WAAAY overpriced to begin with, $22K is too much for this. I'm sure there is plenty of other mysteries waiting for whoever purchases this...bondo, rust, wiring, engine woes.

If it has zero rust then it is worth saving but not at the seller's asking price...not even at $26K.
