OK folks, the time has come for the 3rd Annual North Meets South Uwharrie wheeling / camping weekend. :bounce: :bounce2:

Dates: Friday, June 15th - Sunday, June 17th, 2007.

Arrival: Arrive when you want / can. Some folks will get there during the day on Friday, some will come late Friday night and others will roll in at various times on Saturday.

Departure:
Sunday, June 17th. Most folks will most likely motivate and roll out early morning. Others may be inclined to stay and ride for part / most of the day. Super flexible and up to you!

Accommodations: Camping at a TBD campground. If we have enough people camping (15-35), we'll do the Badin Lake Group Camp. If the group is smaller we'll be at Arrowhead Campground.

Sound off, who's camping???? The sooner we know, the better chance we'll be able to reserve the options we want.

Directions: Plan on about 3 hours travel time from Greenville, SC. Anyone that needs specifics on travel information, directions, etc., let me know. Mapquest from Greenville, SC to Troy, NC:
http://www.mapquest.com/directions/...ille&1s=sc&1z=&2pn=&2a=&2c=troy&2s=nc&2z=&r=f

Communications: Cell coverage is spotty at best in the Uwharrie Mountains. On certain ridges within the trail network you may get service but it is still poor. We will rely on hand held FRS 2 Way Radios and CBs for rigs equipped with them.

Food / Beverages: Dinner one night is on me. Night / Menu TBD. Otherwise, BYOF. Breakfast at camp, lunch on the trail and dinner at camp. BYOB. There is a short order grill at the Outpost a few minutes from camp for rations, gas, ice, air, etc.

Trail access:
By the day or season. Passes available at the Outpost or a few other outlets. Locations, costs, display instructions:

New OHV trail passes for the 2007 season will be sold at the following local stores:
- Mullinix Store, Hwy 109, Uwharrie
- Eldorado Outpost, Hwy 109, Eldorado
- Swift Island BP, Hwy 24/27 and River Rd.
- Jake's Store, Hwy 109, Troy, NC

Cost of the daily pass is $5
Cost of the season Pass is $30
Passes also available at the:

Uwharrie National Forest District Office
789 Hwy 24/27 East
Troy, NC 27371
910-576-6391

Season Passes must be displayed on left rear fender for ATVs and dirt bikes, lower left corner of windshield for 4-wheel drive vehicles. Daily Passes must be securely attached to handlebars for ATVs and dirt bikes, or prominently displayed for 4-wheel drive vehicles.

Who Should Attend: Everyone!!! From stockers to the most capable rigs, Uwharrie has something for everyone.

If wheeling isn't your thing, there are lots of other activities to do such as fishing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, shooting, horse back riding, golfing, running or just chilling in camp reading a book and enjoying a relaxing weekend in the woods.

In closing, a motivational picture from the 1st Annual North Meets South Ride: :grinpimp:

Andy is heading this ride up.

I'm in this year hell or high water. It's fathers day weekend and that would be a great fathers day present.

Stacy and I are about 95% committed to go and to Camp. I think we will most likely stay at Badin again like we did last fall. We will most likely need those showers. I know URE will be a nice dust bowl mid-June. I'll try to check in on some of the others here and see how many more I can get to commit.

Eric - That's great to hear. I knew you and Stacy would be in limbo with the approaching bambino.

I understand the dust and shower thing. Check out the link below and the Arrowhead Campground. It is where we stayed the 1st year of this ride and the main shower / restroom area is essentially brand new. Also has a laundry area.

Give it a look, 1st picture under "Access", after you click Camping then Arrowhead Campground. Description in the "Narrative" section...

Y'all have a great time. I wish I could join you, but Rick and Cat are gettin' hitched that weekend and I'm not missin' that party for nothin'!!

I guess Rick better be in the good graces of Cat's dad or that's going to be a tough weekend for both of them!! :)

Good stuff, best wishes!!

Can't make it, I'll be at Indy for the F1 race.
Anybody going to be at URE Memorial Day?

you know I think that is where we stayed last fall for the N vs S event. It was so cold I probably forgot the name of it though. Maybe Bill can refresh my memory.

Pretty sure is was Arrowhead. Big bath house with porches. I think the Badin Lake Campground has little bath houses like park bathrooms. The porch would be nice if it's a rainy weekend. Remember rain?
I think we stayed on 9 and 10, near the bath house. 11 and 12 may be straight across from it.

My bad, we stayed on 38 and 40. 42 and 43 are right at the bath house.

After the above post I used Andy's link and info.

"Ready . . . Fire! . . . Aim."

Hey cool. I'm not a Junior anymore. I guess you graduated when you go over 200 posts.
What's the next rank?

only 300 more and you're officially addicted. although I was addicted from day one.

I marked it on the calender. I will most likely come down Saturday morning.

Got the cruiser running like a charm, should have Boggers on it by then. Dan, if you're coming, do you mind carrying a spare birf along?
