A friend sent me this photo, thinking it might be an FJ40. But I'm having a hard time telling exactly what it is - so I thought I'd seek the collective wisdom of the esteemed Mud crowd. I'm kinda interested in rebuilding another PTO winch if that happens to be one there.

Any ideas?

I would guess yes with a front shackle reversal

Looks like a Bellevue winch or upright warn

Possibly a 72’

If it’s just in the woods someplace I’d be careful … hate to find it was stollen but it’s possible

The vin off the frame horn will tell you what year it is and you could run it to your local pd and see if it matches anything stollen

It’s rolled in the perfect spot to see that number as well

If it were mine … as bad as it is… I’d want it back :meh:

LHD FJ40 that has been sitting like that a long time. Considering the winch and cast HiLift jack is still there, along with all the other parts, tells me this is on private property. Otherwise it would have been stripped for easy to grab parts by now.

Funny how neither was used to upright the vehicle... Stolen vibes.

could have been stolen, I'm thinking it was in a fire also with no paint showing on any metal

Just buff it out--no one will ever know;) That one looks like it has several revolutions under its belt before being burnt. Can any of the running gear be salvaged after that? I know the seals will be toast.
