Seen any recent King of the Hammers or Baja trucks?

Yes, and most KOH rigs I have seen still have at least a solid rear, but I don't follow it religiously so I could be wrong. But mostly was responding the the quoted post.

Had these stickers made a few weeks ago. If anyone is interested in the cruiser one I can get a price a see what it would take for a group order. They are cut vinyl.

This is not apples for apples, or even close. The rigs you mention are built from the ground up with completely different geometry than what you will find on any IFS found on the market to the public. Kind of like comparing a NASCAR Chevy to one at the dealer.

IF you want to really see the difference, put a 3" lift, tires and armor on an FJC and an 80 and go run some trails. I've watched 80s walk trails that an FJC struggled to get stuck on, over and over. On the faster stuff is where the IFS will shine vs a straight axle.

True, but to call an IFS a "fail" is going a bit far. Also an 80, especially double locked, will perform better than an FJC, that is only rear locked, on many trails. Plus you are dealing with wheel base. My FJ55 has struggled on some trails that my FJC walked up, when the FJC was much less built than the 55 - that was all due to wheel base. On top of that you have the driver to figure into the equation.

Many vehicles, including the Wrangler, are trending towards IFS due to governmental regulations dealing with gas mileage among other issues. It is where things are trending. One will be hard pressed in the fairly near future to find a solid front and rear axle vehicle that isn't a heavy duty work truck. Even many of the work trucks are IFS now. Rumor is the Wrangler might be IFS in a few years...

Exactly my point. So when one person states "fail" to a fictional IFS vehicle it also makes little sense to come back with refference to a KOH race vehicle. It is simply opinon. I have owned quite a few 4WD over the years, 9 currently and for me a solid axle is preffered for my off road use. I do drive an 88 4RNR IFS as a parts truck on a regular basis :) My other IFS, an FJC will be going up for sale in the near future.

Once again, all comes down to opinion.

Oh yeah, as far as what auto makers make in the future, you are welcome to them all. I would much rather put money into resto mods of older vehicles than new technology that the average mechanic can not wrench on. Give me the fuel injection, the rest they can have.

Am I the only one that finds the idea of having a .50 caliber machine gun mounted to my 80 for some pictures... UBER COOL???? My gf thinks I am goofy.

One of the local sheriff deputies has a full sized rubber 50 cal (for training) he wants a mount for the departments Hummer for parades. I offered to make him a mount if we could mount it to my 80 for some pictures...

I need to change departments!!

DO IT!!!!

Jeeps aren't near as heavy as the cruisers either...I've only had to replace 2 u-joints in my Jeep since I have owned it, (over 10 years and lots of wheeling)
However, I do like wheeling the 62 better.

Crown+peach schnoppes+redbull= happy gimpey one!
