Lenny is all into fast Bugs. You need to talk to him. I'm sure he would give you some pointers. He's has a bug now that would spank Gundy and Steens ride.

He sold that Bug - the project that he had for awhile. IIRC it had 190 HP and over 200 torque. I haven't seen the new/replacement Bug though.
Rally car specs for stock vehicles are pretty strict. I guess I could always start stock and mod into an open category.

Steve did you ever consider a Miata......... I believe they are on of the most popular grass roots racing cars. You can get them dirt cheap and all though the engine is lacking they handle like they are on rails!! I used to love twisting mine over Ceasars head in college

Gay just gay. Why would you ever tell anyone you owned a miata?
My dads partner had one and I borrowed it a few times. You could take corners at just about any speed. I loved doing 30 or so and whipping it 180.
It was still gay though.

Corolla would be sweet. I'd drive one.
Pick up an old 914... pretty cheap (not bug cheap) and not nearly as gay as a miata 
and they can be made/bought to be pretty fast and handling is fantastic.

Look I said it was during college okay..... we all did some experimenting then that we aren't proud of
but the miata is in the end what led me to Cruises. After two consecutive trips to the mountains in snowstroms and twice getting stuck in the miata I decided I was getting a 4x4 and I certianly wasn't going to get a truly gay vehicle in a heep wrangler since ever other homo at CU had one....... enter your old buddy dean and his POS 1977 Land Cruiser; I've been obssesed and broke ever since

This will be an uber budget build so the cheaper the better. Stock class in NASA Rally Sport allows for very few mods - basically you can add racing seats and harnesses, a roll cage, a fuel cell, and toss out the floor mats - that's about it. I'd probably get bored with that pretty quick and want to start fiddling with stuff a bit more. Gotta look into the open class now.

I would think you'd want to go with some that is readily available in a junk yard since this is a budget build.

And if guys think my miata was gay you probaly won't be fans of what I hope to get as my next car.......... 2011 Lotus Elise S. Steen and Gundy would have to work hard to keep up with me
I want to get back to something more raw with a pure driving experience. I love my bimmer and it is an awesome car but it too heavey and overly plush. But this is still a few years down the road yet. Mary E gets a new car first.
