In the crossover? To keep it from tearing itself up under heat expansion. Flex coupler from engine to chassis is a pretty standard affair. There is barely room for a single!

You are correct Austin, I want it to be very quiet. No one wants to be the loud guy on the trail(at least around here) it makes for a better day out for everyone involved. I have a feeling it will still be louder than I like, but I couldn't really fit bigger mufflers.

Baby steps.
I have come to notice that I enjoy something quieter than louder on the trail. Others dont bother me to much but I like to be able to hear whats goin on with my rig.
I dig the exhaust, you deffinently put in your time planning it. Thats what it looks like to me, it's allways alot harder than it looks also, great job! Quiet is nice for actually being able to hear your spotter. Deffinently less annoying to the others on the trail, but what would I know about that! I'm just another loud, cocky Italian kid, Ha Ha Ha!
I gotta ask....Did I see your rollover on a t.v. show? Or was that just a different cruiser that looks like yours?

it looks awesome! sorry if i missed this but is that a 4.7 or 5.7 engine? and how do those tranny's compare strengthwise to a TH400 or 4L80E? i've got plans to swap my drivetrain out in the near future, i'm very interested in doing what your doing instead of going the gm route again.

Yeah just MIG'd, hot tacks or whatever the process is called. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, but, maybe I should have gone over to my buddies and TIG'd it. However, I would have had to practice up on the process for a while before doing thin stuff like exhaust.
I just totaled up my invoices and it looks like $227 for the exhaust system
. I already had the bigger muffler and the 2.5" flex coupling so those aren't included.Those are the factory manifolds that came on the 2UZ. My pile of parts that I bought at the beginning of the project didn't come with them. The drivers side came off my DD tundra and the pass side came out of a shop's scrap pile. Both had the "factory cracked" front runner around the trumpet. So I had to weld those up. Then I ground them flat on a big belt sander. I also had to rotate the end on the drivers side to bring the exhaust to the inside of the frame. The pass side got lopped off and sent strait back as you can see.

This is a 2003 2UZ(4.7L) out of a tundra. I can't really comment on strength vs. those tranys because I have never delt with them! But, I tow my Landcruiser with this engine trans combo, and, my buddy has been running this combo in his buggy for several years with out so much as a hick-up from that part of the drive train. He also recently bought a new buggy with some LS 400hp engine in it and swears his old ride is faster. I also believe toyota put a good deal of engineering into pairing the engine and tranny together so, yeah. Between those things I say its good enough for me
If I started over, I would consider trying to find a pullout with an A750(the 5 speed auto) That trans is really awesome, super smooth and the 5th gear keeps in the engine in its power band all the time. I don't' know if it would make much of a difference in a wheeler, but, I really wish my tundra had that trans, driving my GFs 4runner always makes me really envious.

I got my shifter cable bits modified.
Ignore the stickers on the shifter, the guys that I got my shifter from sent me the right gate but with the wrong indication stickers, i'm not sure if I care. My valve body isn't reversed. Maybe I find replacements for cheep
I also decided to patch the mangled divot in my floor since the OG fuel tank won't be going back in this truck.

what's the aftermarket support like for the 4.7 and 5.7 v8's? can you find stand-alone wiring harnesses and people to burn the ecu's pretty easy? and is there a stand-alone controller you can buy for the tranny? and are you going to do a reverse manual valve body or is that an option on them?

The aftermarket support is there for UZ engines but i'm not that familiar with it and for the prices on the stuff the best solution if you are really after more power is to go forced induction. TRD made a supercharger for the 2UZ and makes a supercharger for the 3UR. As far as I understand the supercharger for the 2UZ is only compatible for the early model engine before VVTI. Also, if you are looking to push a lot of boost you should swap out the connecting rods, as, they are not up for the job. Early model 1UZ rods are the easy cheep fix. Check out Lextreme, uzswap, clublexus, for the possibilities. Someday I might try to find a supercharger but, I'm pretty sure i'll be happy with how fast it is stock.
I don't see the need for an aftermarket wiring harness. The engine harness the comes on the engine is really simple to begin with. I will need to cut a few things out that aren't used and put together the chassis side(throttle control, ignition key, ect.) but there really isn't much more to it than plug it in.
As far as the trans goes, nobody makes a valve body, however, the trans is electrically controlled, and can be manipulated to be manually controlled:
