I guess that's a different kind of cylinder deactivation.

Dood, is that busted rod from a 2uz?

What are you doing with your old pistons and rods? PM me, I'm interested if you don't want em and I'm in the D-town area.

How much of the old 40 do you plan on leaving once you're done?

My one track mind hasn’t given much thought to what I’m going to do with the old parts.

Done? ha,
Ha,

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

If you mean the motor swap stop of the voyage, I’m not planning to touch the frame or body. Once I get all the parts lined up, I’ll toss it in as fast as possible do smoky burnouts in front of my house and go wheeling. Much may change further down the line when we’re talking pending suspension and axle progress.

Well, honestly, I haven’t really done anything. The engine is fully assembled and on the stand. I also got my hands on a low mileage trans. I have a big list of parts that I need to round up but I will not be taking the truck apart till winter. Truck is working really well the way it is and it will almost be a shame to change it.

Progress?

Wheeled Montrose this past weekend, I had a few issues. I’m starting to get motivated to rip this old drivetrain out and tighten up this rattlly old truck. Still got a big list of parts to locate, but, now have my people on it. I haven’t even seen that article yet! Dammit!

I thought I would post a few pictures of my progress that is crawling along to try to rekindle some motivation to make this a priority and doing burnouts sooner later than later.
Pulled the old mill

I squared up the frame the best I could with a highlift then welded the inner and outer frame channels together.
2uz02.JPG

I had to strip the engine to pull the broken bits.

My homie found a good deal on a low milage sequoia trans, so I swooped that then purchased the AA adapter to stick my atlas on the back.

I Had to rework my wrap bar a little to accommodate dropping the output as low as I could go while maintaining flat belly. Turned out fine

Last night I worked out the fan/radiator interface which I was a little stressed about. Pumped I don’t have to run an electric fan.

Do you have any bushings on that drivetrain cross member?

why 2 bushings?

Okay who booger welded the cross member mounts:flipoff2::beer:

Just joking, looking good dude...

why 2 bushings?
I don’t really have an answer for that Mace, one didn’t feel like enough support? The products that are out there that are similar from marlin use 2 bushings so I was just kinda trusting other people’s intuition or engineering. I think it will be good.

:D
I’m certainly not the best fabricator, but, there was a pretty big gap to fill on the back side so I buggered it. The other side looks a little better.

I'm sure it will be.

I did basicaly the exact same thing but only used one bushing on Bob. My reasoning was that you are building 3 point (essentially) mounting system so it does not bind. Making it into a quasi "pivot", made more sense to me.

Can't wait to see how you like the new setup :)

I used two under the 203 and hard mounted at the frame....

I hope it'll be good!!!!
