I thought that was you dressed up in a lion's outfit at first!

I had a tough day with the 2004 . . . replaced the passenger headlamp - - was so hard, I ordered another one - - man that left one is shiny now!

Currently doing some rust repair on my 82 Toyota truck.

Quick question. What gauge steel should I use to patch up my floor boards?

I suggest 18. Any thicker and it becomes harder to work with. Most important is to roll some beads into the metal and not install a flat sheet. Otherwise it will flex, pop, and vibrate like a drum. Be very slow and patient on the welds to keep everything cool so it won't warp. I have seen some that overlap the panels, drill holes, and weld rosettes between upper and lower metal .... only reason I don't like the overlap is it gives water a place to collect.

I've done the rosette overlap before. The easiest way I've found to do it is to go pick up one of those cheap Air Flange/Punch tools from Harbor Freight. Cut your sheet metal to size. Punch the holes (as opposed to drilling) and then make a flange around the outside of your patch. The patch will drop right in and you can weld it up. I go back and seam seal everything afterward to keep things water tight. http://www.harborfreight.com/air-tools/specialty-air-tools/air-punch-flange-tool-1110.html Well worth the money spent IMO. Good luck!

18 guage. Got it.

I have one of those cheap tools.

My plan is to just over lap the patch panel. That is the way Toyota does it. Then another the seams with high end seam sealer. Then cover that up with a rust prevention enamel. Then cover it with some bed liner material.

For what the truck is meant to be I think it will work out , hopefully. Haha

Thanks for the suggestions.

This is Moy, built the bumper and have a winch for it. I'll leave the winch install to closer to delivery time, no sense leaving it out in the weather.

Decided to remove my rear fender flares and patch up the holes this past Saturday. I ran to the local auto parts store and grabbed some QUIKSTEEL, aluminum tape, Antique Sage Pearl and Clear Coat paint cans. The only body work I have under my belt is patching up the holes from the factory roof rack with the same method.

Steps:
1) Remove flares and all remaining plugs
2) Clean and prep area for tape and QUIKSTEEL
3) Prepare and apply QUIKSTEEL to holes
4) Let it harden and sand down to body panel
5) Primer
6) Paint
7) Drink some

I wanted to experiment with not masking off the fender area and try to fade the new paint with the old. It worked out alright. In the picture below, I wiped off the excess overspray with lacquer thinner and it left a high contrast area. I was gunna cover it up but I ran out of paint. However, I think I am going to go back, mask off the flare area, line it, and then color match.

Nice work Thomas.

Was that paint the BTY1605 duplicor match?
No one has that in stock up here, may have to order some up or just go get a can of antique sage 1b2 mixed up for me if that doesn't work.

New battery, starter, ballast resister, plugs, wires, dizzy cap/rotor/points,pcv, oil and air filters on a 40 here and she runs for the first time in over a decade!

At least long enough to make new list haha
Radiator, carb rebuild, and hoses next

Nice! Are those Dune Grapplers?

Yes sir! I bought the wheels from a guy on craigslist, I show up, and they've got these tires on! Free tires for a while.

Well if that's not an excuse to go drive it on the beach, I don't know what is...

Oh so tiny :P

Kidding they looks great and actually still fit the scale of the truck well. How do you like the drivability of 35s (?)

Isn't this twice now you've bought wheels that u knowingly came with tires! Nice score
