When I did Nathan’s lowers, I just supported the lower A arm with a floor Jack and knocked the BJ out with a sledge. Three good hits and it was out. To install the lowers, I pulled the boot off the new BJ, fitted the correct press tube, jacked up the A-arm an inch or so by the press tube and whacked the lower A-arm downward with the sledge, using the Jack to force the BJ up into place. Three good whacks and it was in far enough to install the clip. On the uppers, I used a cutoff wheel to remove the shaft of the BJ right at the ball. Once it was off, I put a receiving cup on top and just pressed the joint up with just the swivel end of the press tool right on the ball to press out. Pressing in the tops, I used the “normal” process. There was a tube that fit the uppers with the boot removed. I installed the upper boots last thing. Took a couple of hours on the first side. About an hour on the second side. Learning curve FTW.

No, but I have a 1.75" die in my rogue fab bender you're more than welcome to use.

a buddy is wanting to do a bend for his sliders he has a 90° die but didn't like the way it came out he is wanting a little more angle.

The RF bender can do 180* in one setup. I'm out of town this weekend, but anytime next week hit me up.

Hey all,
I have a lift coming for my GX and am looking for some space around Raleigh to do this installation. I am wanting to do it myself, and unfortunately my decline driveway makes this not a smart idea. Does anyone know of a shop around the area that rents out space? Or does anyone have room and want to give me a hand?

thanks!

What lift specifically?

Come out to a few events, or monthly meetings to get to know us and we know you, then maybe someone will offer up some shop space for you to use.

It the eibach pro truck stage 1 lift. Just a rip and replace of the AHC. And I was at the last meetup at Backyard Bistro, just hadn’t decided on what I was doing at that point haha

Seems like forever since Heather's truck Dexter has had any love, probably because it has. Heading for paint, sanded out to 220 so far. 5.3L/Monster 4l65E trans/Split Case drive line.

Then keep coming out!

I didn’t know Dexter was in play.
I’m excited to see this one play out.

This week’s wrenching: FZJ80 oil pump cover seal, FJ55 center arm rebuild and square bezel 40 wall art.

In play is a relative term. Dexter came off the road in August 2019 and gets drug out every so often and gets something done. I spent $311.00 on epoxy primer yesterday so at least he'll get primed :) I am trying to put at least a half day a week in on getting him done. There is still a ton to do.

Sugar is getting a 5 speed transplant. Out with the NV4500 in with the Tremec 4050
Axis industries adapter. No provision for a T-case shifter so made up a mount using the plate and pin provided with the NV4500 adapter.

No glitches so far in the installation. Bolts right up to the same bell housing and uses same clutch and pressure plate set up as the NV4500. It was almost too easy, still waiting for the other shoe to drop :) Drive shafts will need to be made to the correct length as this set up is a bit longer. Cross member needed to be changed as well.

Seems to be a great alternative to finding a uses NV4500, rebuilding it and hoping it does not make a lot of noise in 5th gear.

Tremec 4050 and Axis Industries adapter. 6.0L Vortec motor. I love this particular truck, my favorite so far, it should be a bit quieter now :)

Cable shifter handles and mechanisms

I am working on our 80 and I have a cable shifter kit for both front and rear axle lockers. I am also going to cable shift the T case, both positions. So I am looking to mount 4 cable shift levers from the tunnel up to just above where the cig lighter resides. I am searching and searching, everything i am finding is very long as in 9" plus. I need 3" cable travel I'd say at max.

Think throttle control lever with bigger cable

They're called push pull cables at McMaster Carr. They come in whatever length and config you need, and have only a few inches of travel.

I'm using them with the nwf triple shifters in moonshine. You can call nwf and see what lengths they have in stock, then buy from them. I have a pair I can sell you if you want to have a look, or you can order from nwf/McMaster

Edit with pic. Brackets and cables pictured came from nwf. The two aforementioned cables are two of the ones pictured here, I had to swap them out for longer ones.
