a co-worker just told me that Barrio later in the evening not nearly as bad, I guess once the UPS guys get out it clears up

What about sentinel peak brewer, from the pictures it looks to have a good drink selection, outdoor seating, modern pub cuisine, and ample parking. Just a reminder that the next meeting is 2 weeks from today.

I guess there hasn't been anything set as for a meeting location so are we still doing Barrio this Friday at 6:30

Barrio was crazy last time, I'd much rather go somewhere else. How about Dragoon?

Edit: Sentinel Peak has more food options and is further east for our friends over that way. I'm happy to head over there too.

Dragoon usually has lots of room in the car park.

I might be able to make it this Friday, but I also might be going up to Phoenix for some A/C parts so maybe I'll crash their meeting :hillbilly:

My vote for this Friday is Dragoon. The Ciao Down food truck will be there from 5 to 9. I'll be more inclined to arrive earlier--5 or 5:30 pm.

Looking ahead, would anyone be in favor of moving this to the last Thursday of the month, to avoid conflicts with weekend plans? A later start on a Thursday could also be easier for those of us who get home from work on Fridays completely beat and are unlikely to turn around again for a social occasion. My two cents!

Unless someone else has already cast a line, I'll touch base with Summit Hut owners, Dana and Jeremy Davis, regarding the possibility of a future cruiser rally in the parking lot of the Speedway store.

I'll second that

Good morning, CSC-Tucson folks! Long-ish note here, so please bear with me.

I'm planning to park my rig at Dragoon Brewing Company today at 5:00 pm. I'll be enjoying a pint and a pizza with my significant other and, possibly, a few other non-cruiser folks. I'd welcome the chance to connect with any member of this group who is able to join, especially to learn about the group's history and possibilities for the future. Once again, the Ciao Down food truck will be on site from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, and it looks like they have a great menu.

I scrolled back through recent messages and it seems like rotating locations for monthly meetings might yield some better participation (I say this not having been to a single meeting yet; no disrespect to past efforts). In the spirit of throwing spaghetti on the wall to see what sticks, here's a possibility for meetings for the remainder of 2019:
I'm still curious if folks would be amenable to switching to Thursday nights, to avoid conflicts with weekend plans. Any thoughts?

Finally, I heard back from Summit Hut President/Owner, Jeremy Davis, regarding the possibility of a Land Cruiser meet up at the Speedway store. He's very open to the idea! He also suggested we might first try to integrate with two events the store already has planned for the fall:
  1. November 14th - "Gear and Beer" that includes drinks and food (nothing online about this yet)
  2. November TBD - Event where people bring their “trailhead hotels” to the store to show off their vehicles
I think Land Cruisers could integrate into both of these concepts (neither have any online information yet), though I'd be interested to learn more from Jeremy. He's also still open to the idea of a stand-alone Land Cruiser event at the shop. Maybe this group could try participating in one of the already-planned November events, see how it goes, and then plan something cruiser-specific for 2020 (?). Feedback welcomed on this front.

So, there you go--a totally overbearing, OCD note from a new member who has yet to participate in any activities! I hope to see some folks tonight at Dragoon and, if not, at a future gathering.

Cheers,
J

Good Monday morning, folks.

We had two 100 series and my 60 series Land Cruiser present Friday night at Dragoon--three rigs total. D_Web and another driver I met earlier in the day and invited (has a Mud handle, but don't recall what it is) chatted mostly about cruisers in general and some runs we'd like to do. I think I can safely say a good time was had by all.

A few notes about the the location:
  • Dragoon has plenty of space for socializing, has great beer (if that's your thing), and the food truck was excellent.
  • Parking on a Friday night wasn't a challenge, but all three of us had to park a ways from the entrance; the tap room doesn't have windows allowing for eyes on the trucks and there is now outside seating, patio, etc.
For the October gathering, I suggest we try out one of the more central locations--either Craft, A Modern Drinkery or Sentinel Peak Brewing. My vote is for a Thursday night, if others are open to a change.

Have a great week!

It’s October, let’s talk meetup?
I am also interested in the potential summit hut meet, I think those with RTTs or other non-traditional camp set ups would enjoy an event like that. I know Phoenix does something similar within CSC to generate new ideas and hacks.. generally look at cool set-ups.

I am just hoping to have UMA up and running correctly by the 4th Friday of the month.

Yes! More 60 series engagement on this topic! Love it.

My suggestion/preference for the October meetup:
  • Can we give a Thursday night a trial run, as not to interfere with weekend plans? How would folks feel about getting spooky at one of the following joints on Thursday, October 31:
My suggestion for November Summit Hut stuff:
  • I'll send a response to Jeremy indicating we'll have at least 3 (?) rigs in attendance for the November 14 "Gear and Beer" event. Would we like to request anything else? Preferred, back-in parking near the door, so we can all be lined up together?
Hoping for any and all feedback on these topics. My personal agenda in being active with this group is to learn more about cruisers in general, gain some knowledge of driving off-road, make contacts for mechanical/engineering support, and, hopefully, forge some new friendships. And, hell, let's give the Phoenix guys a reason to update this page.

Cheers!

Saw that wiring picture in the weekend thread. WOW! I'd be completely lost.

the problem is that the 31st is Halloween and those of us with kids can not make it due to trick-or-treating,

Thursdays don't work for me at all plus i don't think that there will be a bigger turn out just by having it on Thursdays just because a lot of people still have to go to work on Friday.

On a side note I got my 40 back up and running with everything working again. so i can drive it to the meetings again

Hey all,

As @mtn biker pointed out we have the October monthly meeting coming up this week. I’ve seen good chatter and suggestions for meeting locations and proposals for Thursdays rather than Fridays.

In the long term we should figure out what works best for everyone in terms of day of the week for monthly meetings and venue. I suggest discussing this as a meeting topic at the upcoming monthly meeting. Depending on attendance, it may be worth while to roll out a survey to get feedback from the community at large.

In the interim, I propose the October meeting stick to Friday and meet on the 25th. As for venue, I believe @DesertFlyFish identified a few places to try. Of that list it seems Brother John’s might be worth trying. In summary, let’s meet on Friday, October 25th at Brother John’s located at 1801 N Stone Ave. Meet up at 6:00pm to catch up and check out each other’s rigs, then head inside around 6:30 for the meeting.
