New tool!! Needs cleaning and refreshed but it's actually in amazing condition under all the years of 'experience' (grease)!

I've blown bulbs out, shot stuff through boards and vaporized stuff into thin air with mine. I still love it. The wire wheel side is the deadly side.

Glasses and a shield, along with some serious gloves. Each 1/4 hp increase exponentially increases the meat damage quotient.

A good bench grinder has its place in every shop/garage. I'm a fan of the old craftsman 'block' grinders. One day I'll stumble across the elusive 1hp big boys, but for now the less lethal ones work just fine. It's amazing how much force is required to stall out one of these 1/3hp versions...the trend nowadays is to overrate the hp.

Don't have the badges on yet but the 1957 Rockwell drill restoration is about done.

Raided the tool box from 1966 and picked out a few items. The harbor freight 1/4" router is not part of the package. Center is my favorite. Not sure of the one at the top of the picture. Maybe a scraper of sort. Added 4 more knives to my collection and several keys. I have about a 1,000+- key collection.. Anyone with throw away keys, save and send my way. Stupid thing to collect, but who else does it?

Damn that was quick!! How does it run?

No jobs tackled yet but runs great. Was filthier than I thought possible ... That black "dust" you and I found was fan belt material being shaved off due to a hole worn in the drive pulley. The motor was caked on the inside. Even still it only needed 3 parts ... A pulley, one motor bearing, and a replacement switch. From the looks of it the spindle and quill bearings had already been replaced and the runout is practically zero.

There are some random holes drilled in the table I believe I will weld up. Then I'm hoping I can head to Asheville next week to see my engine guy about another project I'm working on and plan to take the table with me and ask him to plane it for a nice smooth surface.

View attachment 1343638 Just acquired this. Maybe not a grinder, looks like I can buff up with it. It has not seen action since 1966, the year my wife's dad passed away. We are cleaning out the house after her Mom passed away in July. This is a 1/6th HP.

Is that just a motor or is it attached to something?

It has buffing wheels on either end. My wife's dad was in the jewelry business and my Misses used this to buff the silver that he brought home .
I should post this in @JohnVee post about old things from the past. This was her play toy until her dad passed.

we had a 1HP dayton bench grinder at McCarthy... that think was down right violent... I loved it
