I was just referring to the price on the clamps with the stainless bolts, they are usually a couple of bucks more than the ones with the plated hardware.

That intercooler turned out super. How much clearance will be there between the IC and the hood?
Those are the T-bolt style of clamps, McMaster Carr sell them, spendy at $5-7 a piece depending on the size, unless you want stainless hardware, then $8-11 a piece

the filter i had chosen wasn't water tight so i ditched the idea and went with a cleaner look with air feed from the top of the air box to the York feed. i ended up tapping the original York fittings to a barb.
i also cleaned up the look for the outlet to the manifold housing.

we had a little surprise when we took the sound deadening from under the hood.
this guy was sitting there, "Hey Mitch, take a look at this"
and he jumped back in surprise.
i don't think i would like to wrench on Cruisers in Oz. i am not a big fan of spiders either.

we needed to strengthen the hood so the owner can walk on it carrying a cooler of beer to enjoy the sunset from the roof rack.
at first i felt the easiest and strongest would be reinforcing the web work under the hood. not such a great idea.
then i thought a fiberglass reinforcement under would be the cat's ass but after chatting with Mike Gozzard that idea was shot down.
He recommended 1/4" aluminum structure on the top of the hood on the flats. this would be the base to build from.
Mitch went to work designing the unit and then we fab'd up the scoop for the intercooler.
the final design is off for water jetting and construction ...

That seems like a lot of effort and f**king around just to be able to get up on the roof for a beer. Most of the set-up troopies over here have got a small ladder built from the rack, down the rear quarter to pick up the bumper or frame rails on the passenger side. Stand on rear bumper, lift esky onto the rack, hop off bumper, climb ladder.
I know it's his money and he can do what he wants, but I'd be a little bit dirty that after all the prep & paint and getting this thing 100% right that he's just going to walk all over it with his boots on.

Checker plate alloy might be good.
Its shiny enough when its new. And not so shiny but not ugly either later down the road.
Good enough that you dont have to worry about it so much anyways.
Unless you plan on wearing corked boots while your doing a drunken expedition to the top of mount troopie on the weekends.

actually, it will be flat alloy so i can router the edges and then it is going back in for white PC application.
one of the issues that arrise when using aluminum and steel in close proximity is the disimilar metals will react with each other when water is introduced. the fresh paint and the powder coating with the rubber isolator between will help prevent this from occuring anytime soon.
now, flat black or flat white ... that is the question.
flat black will be much easier to drive with but it will attract heat.
flat white will help to keep the clean look of the vehicle when completed, reflect heat away but it could be tiring to look through when driving in the desert sun ....

I vote FLAT BLACK white might reflect into the window too much in bright sun 
Or WHITE with lots of MUDDY footprints on it to keep the glare down.
