Might as well powder coat as much of that winch as you can - they rust in the best of climates not to mention under the back of a cdn truck:) Using rope or cable?

. there will be 5 speeds coming in. the down side will be if he wants to be able to winch in AND turn the tires in reverse then he will need to wind out the cable and feed it back in UNDER the rear frame cross member.
clear?

new as in all 79 series or just the last couple years?

5 speeds as in manual 5sp box? My own pto is mounted on the front and can't operate above 2nd gear as its too dam noisy.

The 'down side' does not seem to be a good idea.

I second duncan at titanwinches.com. He set me up a couple years ago. Great guy to deal with.

D

trying to find specs on the rope but the site is very ... uninformative.

but thanks for the heads up guys.

I can supply winch rope if you need it in bulk lengths. 3/8 seems to be what most people want right now - comes in 600' multiples. I can cut that down to shorter amounts per order. Would prefer even number lengths - 100', 150' etc.

If your winch is noisy, it's time to put in new u-joints and check the pillow block bearings. We re jointed a shaft for a local guy and he was blown away by how much better it was afterwards - he was getting ready to toss it due to noise.

I'm a big fan of the pto winchs,My old mans hzj75 runs a pto wInch , and my old work ute hzj75 had one , I've got one sitting in the shed but it's too suit a h55 box and won't work on my h150 , the amount of massive tree stumps and stuff they have been used for a never missed a beat , I would much prefer them than s***i elec ones

did you email Duncan? or call him? I'm just curious. If you are going to buy from John, I won't try to sway your choice.

nah, i went to his site and i do like to support the venders on mud. it turns out Duncan is in Ontario and i have a buddy that does a drive up from Toronto on a semi regulat basis so...

thinking it over.

WOW... :eek::eek::eek:

Nice Cruiser WAYNE... congrats! ;)

If you want to install a rear PTO, remenber to use the front PTO must neutralize the rear PTO. or if you use the rear PTO you need neutralize the front PTO. (is not easy to install, but all is possible :hillbilly:)

Please send a lots of pics of the rear Pto install process OK!

Good luck mate!

Wayne

I meant to ask

is an onboard shower part of his build plan?
what about onboard air?

even if he wants to sort out the details of pump and plumbing himself it might be beneficial for you to put the heat exchanger (or air compressor) in during the build

also - might want to layout concept for the onboard water (onboard air) quick connects during fab of the bumpers (prior to powder coating)

sorry - just saw "air compressor" in your post

any specifics on onboard air discussed?

(small bullet tank tucked in alongside a frame rail with lines pipes to (hidden) quick connects in the front and rear bumpers)

or does he want to sort that out when he gets truck (before final paint)?
