Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a tranny mount for an H55F....specifically that center piece that has the rubber isolators. I'm trying to make a cross member and I've read where others have used that center section and fabbed up a cross member off of it. I have the 5 speed in my 45 and when I hit bumps I can feel something moving underneath. I have the side mounts off of the bell housing, but it just seems like that isn't enough. Doesn't the same piece from a 60 fit that tranny?
thanx
Craig

86-87 with the 3f bellhousing use the same trans isolater as the h55. I have this one available.

Got one from cruiserjunktion

the trans mounts are the same where they attach to the transmission, they are different where they attach to the crossmember. the crossmembers were different as to which bellhousing they went with.

have you put a jack underneath and see what is moving?
you can get a crossmember rom an 81-83 40 series and use that depending on what bellhousing you used. or get an 81-84 60 series crossmember and cut it down to fit.
it really depends on what bellhousing you have in your setup.

No, I haven't put a jack under there to see what is moving but I will try that. I have the side mounts off the bellhousing but like I said earlier it seems to need something a little more so I plan to fab up a crossmember off of that center piece I got from cruiserjunktion. One thing is that it'll give me some piece of mind knowing there is some additional support under there.

A crossmember is pretty much a necessity for an H55f install.

What is the thread pitch for the bolts that attach the Isolator to the H55F? I am putting a H55F in my 1978 FJ40 and have the new isolator but not hardware.

Here's the part number:

91659-61225

And the specifics:

M12 X 1.25 X 25mm long

6T strength

I don't remember off-hand the washer configuration, so I looked for a photo (courtesy CruiserParts LLC):

Thank You for the help.

Should mention the isolator are different in the 40 series at least. They come in B, F and H versions depending on which engine.

All I have is the part number. I do not know which engine family is is for.

The letter of the engine it's for is molded into the rubber. Only difference in the isolator is the thickness of the rubber. Since your installing it in a 78 you can determine the the height of the L brackets on the frame. I know on pre 8/80 hole in the front where the L bracket bolts to is oval. 8/80 that was just a circle. The back part of the oval is gone.

Isolators
B engine 12371-58010
F engine 12371-61020
H engine 12371-68010 NLA

These were the same in the 60 series up to 11/84 in most markets. US the crossmember change was 4/85.

I am not putting the transmission be hind any of those engines and all the matters is the bolt threads onto the hole.
