Thread bump. My 80 is NA on 35's with stock gears. I know the RPM range for the shifts will only be changed by proper gearing, but would installing this shift kit help ease the wear on the transmission in the meantime and/or help as I add correct gearing/ forced induction? Or, should I just leave it alone and worry about a shift kit if/when gears and power are added? I read the old thread by Tools on adjusting the stock A343F and I'm trying to figure out if I should go that route or go ahead and put the transgo kit in. Full disclosure, I will probably be on stock gears/stock NA engine for a hot minute - which is why I'm asking this question. If I had a SC or turbo waiting for install then I'd go ahead with the kit.

do it. It will only help.

The shift kit does make it feel like you are getting more of your new found power to the ground, it was a big difference in my setup. But I had a 135-140,000 mile transmission and more boost than this kit.
145k and doing the shift kit since I'm doing a full rebuild on everything else and its out. So about the 50k we joked about 3 years ago and here we are...:flipoff2:

How are these TransGo reprogramming kits holding up over time? Any long-term negatives showing up?

I can't speak to the Cruiser, though I will most likely install one if I don't decide to do some massively expensive swap. However, the 1st gen Tundra transmission is from the same "family" (A340F vs A343F). There are a few differences, but it uses the same Transgo kit. I've been running the kit in my Tundra for probably ten years. It was absolutely transformative on that truck and still feels excellent. FWIW, stock, the Tundra trans was adjusted much softer than my 80 (which I assume is stock, but I haven't dropped the pan). Honestly, for the cost, I probably should have already done the 80. I think I spent more on ATF than I did on the kit when I did the Tundra. They were cheap for what they did then, and the price hasn't kept up with inflation.

i have the Nomad Valve body upgrade on my A440A,. Pretty much the same thing as a shift kit The shifting is firm, precise with 3rd gear lockup. It is also alot more sensitive to throttle response and the 3rd gear lockup is a plus when managing tranny and coolant temp.
