Can anyone give a review of the transfer case Hi Range UD gears? Sounds like a good alternative to regearing the axles

Correct. You'd want the underdrive.
I'll send you a pm Scotty!

Interesting info ! can you also pm me a quote ? I also have 35s with stock gears and would like to bring it to stock

How many bananas is DIY the gears ?

Thanks !

Ok all this is exciting news...

I just have one more question, if one installed the 10% high range reduction gears & the 25% low rage gears does the 10% effect the final drive in low range? Meaning a 35% final reduction in low?

No, you don't add them up. Separate gears.
You can do the 3.11 low gear which will not affect the HI range at all.

I thought we hadn't reached a conclusion yet on this ? @orangefj45 was going to do a tooth count and calculations on each setup when he had more time.

I really don't see how both gears can be engaged at the same time. I really see it as a transmission, in which each gear runs independently of the others.

I'll try to respond with some more info over the weekend.

@orangefj45 , george, I have the low range gears and 4.88's. Would these gears replace the current gear ratio when my OD button is depressed? So basiclaly with these installed I would have a higher OD button and the same gearing as I have now with the button not depressed?

Thanks,

Noah

I am so confused now. Is this a joke? Still confused.

OD is a function of the transmission, not transfer case.

no not a joke, lol, now that I think of it though it was a dumb question, I was thinking transmission not tc......

No, the end result would be the same as you removing your 4.88s and installing 4.39 gears in your diffs (if there was such a thing)

The UD gears would be the same as installing 5.37 gears, theoretically (assuming you were coming from 4.88s of course)

So anyone know how much work is involved swapping these gears ?
And what other parts are needed?
I got a quote from a terrain tamer vendor in Europe and it is even more expensive than R&P swap including the fitting kit + getting someone to set up the diffs. Too bad, because I was really excited.

That's interesting considering the work levels involved. I would say its a lot easier to drop a transfer case then it is to pull the axles and 3rd members.

The entire process of removing/installing the Tcase and installing UD or OH high range gears takes 6-7 hours.
The low range gears take a little longer but only by 1 hour or so.

@orangefj45 I sent a PM for pricing on the Underdrive gears

@orangefj45 pm sent for pricing as well as a question or two

So what would be the theoretical result of the under drive gears with the stock 4.10 diffs?

How many bananas would you say the re-gearing job is ? Is there any special tools required ?
