Strategically placed gay batman sticker for the win!

If James poops out a bottlecap, we will know nickel Rubicon has been reincarnated on the east coast

Stupid autocorrect...Mickey Rubicon.....

That one wooshed over my head.

ok - so I googled micky rubicon, and I don't believe I'm worthy. Certainly I don't drink enough - and unless you really really give me a reason, I won't get into verbal or physical altercations over he said she said type stuff..

Seems like pooping out bottle caps and getting into tiffs with other members was his MO. Legend has it....

but you're open to the pooping of bottle caps is the take-away of this, yes?

It was mainly his obsession with radically cutting into sheet metal, and application of every sticker known to mankind at that time. It wasnt his drunken actions and ill will toward other peeps.

Ive had a long week.LOLOL

Ha.

Yeah, I"m not the stickerbomb type generally. I wanted to put it on a quarter panel that's dented up pretty bad on my son's Del Sol... But as a 17 year old, he wasn't interested in the potential ridicule from the other kids.. I think the sticker bomb is more of an early 20's backward cap Honda driver that doesn't really care what people think.

My son's not really that 'into' cars yet and still cares what other people think. He'll come around.

So.... :steer: How are the road manners behind the 40?

Good looking setup

Drives like a snake on cocaine......

;)

Kidding. I just thought I'd find a creative way to describe a swerving trailer. Drives REALLY smooth. I definitely felt some stability improvement with the longer trailer tongue that Rice fabricated for me. No excessive bouncing or leaning. The bulldog hitch is nice and quiet too.

Thoughts on sliders/steps/shelves for storage (jerry cans/water tanks, maybe a spare tire)

Any critique or comments on this terrible MS paint mockup?

what DOM pipe? Should I use mesh or diamond plate as the shelf? Bolt to frame or weld? Estimates on how much weight this might add? IE: will it necessitate upgrading the 3000lb axle?

For clarity, I'm not really focused on the slider functionality since this trailer's frame isn't really built to withstand hardcore offroad punishment. So overbuilding it isn't necessary. Just has to withstand the occasional scrape and a fat guy stepping on it once in a while.

This reminds me .... still on the "to do" list is to install a tongue skid or a caster:

Tongue Skid Bolt-on Glv [lr]- 4053.006 | Tongue Skids | Load Rite Parts | TrailerPartsDepot.com

good point. It's gotten pretty heavy. Almost too heavy for me to move around by hand. Would probably do some damage if it dropped.

Got a chuckle out of that. Reason I'm asking is I'm considering trailer options behind my CJ5. Short wheelbase, don't want the tail wagging the dog...

Aluminum tube. Light, easy to cut, easy to bend. Downside is welding.

Yeah. In addition to that, get something that will absorb the shock from the trailer tongue if it happens to become disconnected from the vehicle or otherwise 'drops' without the jack being down. The aluminum (or stainless steel) on the front where the 'V' is will buckle when this happens. It did on my son's R&R enclosed trailer when it jumped off the hitch ball.

I was Hack Designing (in my head) something that resembled a 1/4 elliptical spring and would both act as a shock absorber and a skid.

good call. I believe I have the chains short enough that it wouldn't touch the ground if it fell off while connected... But certainly should assess.

Not as concerned about the jumping off thing though - the Bulldog hitch seems pretty fail safe. You'd have to basically completely forget to latch it for it to fall off. Versus the standard ball where you could just forget to tighten it all the way and not know it visually.

Yeah. I was pulling the R&R trailer behind my 2014 Grand Cherokee when it decided to pop off the hitch ball. Only going 25-35 mph, but it was exciting for a bit. Come to find out, it had happened at least once before (previous owner), as the small triangle 'skid' was flat already, and there were a couple other buckles in the 'V' nose.

Like I was thinkin', a small leaf spring, one end attached to an eye, and the other end left to slide on the underside of the tongue, would work good. Just enough give to keep things from bending.
