i'm trying purchace front brake rotors for my hilux and each time i get an order in they are the wrong offset, sometimes i order parts that are the same for a 4runner or a typical pickup of similar years, so what axle does it have ? i've seen it on a LandCruiser,
perhaps that will help me get the right set in,
thanks.

Year? Solid axle or IFS?

Can you post some photos?

Year? Solid axle or IFS?

I'm guessing that you have a later year non-US (since doublecabs were never sold here until the Tacoma) solid axle and are ordering for a same year US model, which was IFS and that is the issue you are having.

Can you take them off and resurface them? Or are they toast? I get brake parts in Vancouver from VAP on Commercial. Phone might be 251 9060? or on the Web. EBI cruisers in PoCo might have an idea where to source parts, if it matches a Cruiser part. Is your Double cab grey? RHD? I saw one in Pemberton earlier this year.

I've seen solid axle Gen2 double cabs here in NM. Sold here or not, people have found ways to acquire them.

Oh, certainly. There are doublecabs in the US too. Just saying that if he is buying US parts for a non-US vehicle then things aren't going to match up.

The dealer will support non-USA vehicles with a vin no.

Again, certainly. Of course, the OP hasn't been back to add any information, but from his statement of "sometimes i order parts that are the same for a 4runner or a typical pickup of similar years" and "so what axle does it have ? i've seen it on a LandCruiser" makes it sound like he is sort of shooting in the dark.

by "same axle as a landcruiser" I believe he means solid front and not IFS. This would be the 8" front typical to JDM hilux's and not the 9.5" 60 series or 8" high pinion 80 series axle I believe.

To the OP, it sounds like you are ordering brake parts for a domestic truck the same year as your hilux, the domestic trucks have IFS and different backspacing then the hilux axles. Im not sure about which vendors, but the mention to above vendors sounds reasonable, or try the toyota dealership with your vin number, if the parts guy can verify it is different then the domestic part and get a hold of it you should be good to go.

FYI, domestic toyota trucks had solid front axles (SFA) till 85 or 86, but Im not sure if the brakes and backspacing are the same as JDM SFA.

The OP apparently wasn't too serious about getting answers since he hasn't been back since 1.5 hours after posting his original question... ;)

Gotta love those "one post wonders". I've always wondered if Woody had some algorithm that would weed out those accounts and kill them after a certain amount of inactivity.

I think that requiring 24 hours before you post and if no activity by 72 hours the account is killed would also drop the number of spammers as well.

Will since the op decided to bonk, might as well make this thread useful. Do the later model non-us hiluxes (say 89-96) use the same solid nonvented rotor as the 85 us hiluxes?

Go easy on the OP. The only Doublecab Hilux I've seen in Pemberton (I go to Pemberton at least 30 times a year) was driven by a woman. The driver might be a little surprised by the intensity of the reaction/interest on Mud.

Thats kinda what I was thinking.

Hilux info

Didn't mean to bonk (i've been away) and much thanks for the replies. I am not the woman who drives the other hilux in Pemberton although i know she's online here.
I'm new to Ih8mud and not very quick with the lingo.
I have a 91 Toyota Hilux double cab pickup Japanese Import.
It is grey RHD and is very similar to a 90's 4runner.
It has a SFA, I've already fitted it with 91 4runner calipers and landcruizer rims have the right offset and allow clearance for the steering cross link where as aluminium toyota tires do not.
I've turned on notifications.
thanks
