Ha Ha Ha that was a blast to ride....until I found out there were no brakes! YIKES!got the trike out for its first run of the summer. She took a little damage at the gathering (whoda thunk) and needs the rear axle locating brace rebuilt (it is a pretzel right now!) and after all the idiocy that it held up for, I broke a lever putting it in the truck.
I used the stock brace for the hub- bad idea. I will build a much more stout one this time. I still have no idea what I am doing with it. Might give it to a friend who lives in burlington- at least then it would get used.
I really only built it for the gathering.
Nat came over to help re-do the steering on the 55. had new rod ends from CCOT and a new heavy duty tie rod plus a custom draglink made by Orange45. Of course one of the ends didn't fit right so everything is about 80% done. Need to find one that'll fit tomorrow am....think the machining was off on the one I got. very weird.
New brake lines and MC tomorrow. Don't wanna skimp or cut corners on brakes or steering....everything else can be mickey moused as usual
I just went through my brakes. It was more of a restoration job than a repair job. I can't imagine how bad things can get on the older stuff.
Switched out the MC which was desperately needed. Got extended SS brakelines for the rear since they are very tight after the SOA switch. No idea what brake calipers are on my truck but it wasn't even close to anything that would remotely fit with the new lines. Considering just re-doing all the lines from front to back. Big can o' worms I tells ya.
you're a long way from Vermont.
Why did you go with the 1-ton TRE's over the 80 series?
