I went from a pretty well built 60 to a SUA 40 and the differences are immense. Here in the northeast the 40 is SO much easier to weave through tight trails but the 60 on 38s made for a solid rock crawler....in a minimum built 40

Ohh the number of times I have heard motors rev, followed by a bang, the throttle is not your Freind…Leading a group of mixed wheelbase and tire size and locked rigs you start to learn where different trucks are challenged. The spots where SWB SOA bust pinions, where LWB rigs cut driveshafts in half. A few inexperienced drivers making mistakes and a few yahoos saying “hold my beer”. I’d be lying if I didn’t admit I’m a bit nervous about my son in his first time in a minimum built 40 (he’s driven the 80 previously).
We can pull another front differential to be rebuilt in the Springs on that table. Mark and Maria will be thrilled. We’ll have to band together and make them a new oneOhh the number of times I have heard motors rev, followed by a bang, the throttle is not your Freind…
As lightly full as possible.Did a proper shake-down run today, no major issues.

Next is figuring out how to pack the rig, it’ll be a challenge…
Lol….I would rather not do that again, (still remember Russ sending John over to help and him looking at me covered in oil and saying Ray you know what you are doing..I’m leaving). We can pull another front differential to be rebuilt in the Springs on that table. Nice tow setup, 3/4 ton suburbans are a great tow pig,
10mpg on the street, 9 towing!Nice tow setup, 3/4 ton suburbans are a great tow pig,
big blocks, loaded, empty doesn’t matter, on mileage, they will run 3k rpm loaded hard for days on end, best tow pig I have had was a 454-nv4500 combo, quiet smooth, reliable and pulled great,10mpg on the street, 9 towing!
