This is sage advise Eric, and it will be heeded. The Rubicon Trail will not be the toughest trail you've driven. Pritchett in 2019? was much worse obstacle wise. But it is like running a Marathon. It is constant. You have to have your A game ready the whole trip. It is the little obstacles that wear you down. So the more you can do to avoid fatigue the better. I say this because you have a sizable road trip to start with.
I have been out of town this week and just saw you email, I can post the Rubicon repeater, the plan is to just use GMRS frequency’s I haven’t seen a list of what we are using yet, I will post and update the email thread as we get closer,I sent an email to Ray on Monday regarding GMRS/ham/repeater info and got no response.
I offered to make a CHIRP/Excel file to help as I know how crazy things can get for the organizers before an event. I have no problem jumping in to help out if needed. All I need is the info.
I'll be bringing 2 Baofeng GMRS/2m/70cm handy's and a Kenwwood V71A unit in the truck. If folks are short of radios I have another 6 Baofeng units that I bought for our club events. I'd be happy to charge them up, preprogram them, and throw them in a bag if needed.
Personally, I don't want to have to be playing around with my radios when I'm getting ready to hit the trail.
