Hey everyone! I just registered for the Wagon Run (thanks Jeff for squeezing me in 🤙). I'll introduce myself - my name is Jake, joining me are my wife Whitney and son Max (2.5yo). We're from San Diego (North County). This will be our first time doing the Rubicon and our first TLCA event (hopefully many more to come). We'll be driving a 1999 4Runner Ltd, it's a SAS with '04 SuperDuty axles, 3-link front, 4-link + cantilevered rear, 2.5" coilovers, 40s, and dual cases. This is a fresh build (did a little shake down run today), I will be installing sliders, installing a winch, doing some wiring, and painting the bare metal over the next couple weeks. No trailering, we're driving to the trail and back home (took it on the freeway today for the first time 😬). We're looking forward to meeting everyone!

Who is ready ?
Almost. Installed an official Hi-Lift mount so I don't need to strap it down anymore. Going through my trail spares box, wondering if I really need to carry 18 spare sparkplugs...

Tent. Sleeping Bag. pillow . something to sleep on . bug spray . clothes . a tarp to lay down if you do need to fix something . and some food . Remember we will have some food and drink available for purchase at the springs . Also since you are open top i suggest some rain gear just in case . I have been in some nice Rain storms that just blow in and be gone in 30 min

He doesnt need a wagon, needs to bring less s***. I pack a ton of stuff, ask anyone whos been to Rubithon and I have never considered putting the fridge shotgun ? Although if you don't like people its perfect situation, now I know what I'm looking for.

This was just a Tetris exercise to see what I could fit and how... they are all empty so far. Next step is to start laying out what I'm going to bring... maybe I won't need all of those cases.
Fridge riding shotgun? Yeah... people... I've had enough of most everyone.

Yeah, your trail lead will/should check each participant to see if they have a radio, that they have the Rubi rptr channel so if needed you can conect with emerg personel, run admin, RTF caretaker, RSSI caretaker etc.... each run will have a "chat" channel so that as they spot & comm during the run it isnt broadcasting to everyone. Woy & I will get along just fine, like the style.

Well said, we have had issues in the past with what you are talking about, getting the group on one frequency and not walking on other people, Gmrs solves this.. as far as the repeater as long as several in the group know how and have access for emergencies we should be ok,

So what are the chances of someone coming up with a chirp file for gmrs and or a chirp file for ham 2 meter ahead of time so that we can pre-program our radios?
Seems like one chirp file for the whole event would make things a lot easier on site for the group leaders.

There is and talk to your trail lead .
