Might be a back spacing issue? I would not turn that sharp, when you hear it rub - back off until you don't hear it rub. I have been in places where its a 50 point turn to get out - a little rub at that time might be only a 10 point turn.

Just acquired a 1978 FJ40 with 17-inch rims and 285/70 R17 tires. Rubbing on tie rods when turning hard. What is maximum width size recommended to avoid rubbing?
Post a photo of where the rubbing is.

A back space issue, plain and simple. If it rubs either static or with a turning deflection try a 1/4" wheel spacer on the front to clear the tie rod ends.
Agreed, ... backspacing issue. You might be able to go to a 255 or a 235 tire width. If you go with a spacer, you might need longer studs.

A backspace of 3.125 inches was what we went with to run 16" wheels and disk brakes, ... and we run 255s.
