So I bought these about a year and a half ago, brand new, I had one side wall separate, ( the tech said puncture WTF ) now I am having another one separating, but being an all wheel drive vehicle, I need a 4 tires very close in size, so the shop said you need to pay for a prorated $148 + $25 installation, and $234 for a second tire and of course another $25 mount and balance this ends up $432, where is the warranty when I need to pay a fat price to mount and balance, I know I will not buy any Goodyear tires again after this BS . I will be calling them monday and asking them to stand behind their crap

You're not the first person I hear of having issues with Duracraps. I unfortunately bought some for my FJ60 and with only 8K miles on them, they're loud as hell (yes, balanced and rotated religiously) and they weren't doing this before.

I went with Cooper Discoverer STT Pros for my LX450.

I haven't had any issues with my Duratracs. What load range are you running. I'm running E.

I got tired of GYs years ago. Whenever I have a car come in with a pull/drift problem before I put it up on the alignment rack I check to see if it has GYs. If it does, I swap the front tires side to side and 9 times out of 10 it solves the problem. For off road tires I've had the best luck with BFGs.

Same here. What your size, load rating and mileage?

Aren't Duratracs only a two ply sidewall?

I've always run BFG which are a three ply sidewall.

315/72R16E. I put them on before my trip to Portland for Diesel swap about 20K ago. Several trips to Moab, Big Bend, beach and countless ranch driving in the Texas hill country with no issues or flats. Same goes for my previous MTRs on previous vehicles. I am running BFG KM2s on the 40, BFG All Terrain on 4Runner, and MTRs on F350 with no issues as well. All load range E.
Only reason I chose Duratracs is I couldn't get MTRs in the 315/75 in load range E. I really can't complain with any of the tires we currently run. No flats and all have been great.

They are not good tires IMO. I've seen way too many flats personally and I barely even wheel. All it takes is a twig.

I echo several of these things. A small weed sidewall punctured a nearly new Duratrac in 285/75/16 load range E on my 80. After they wear a bit they are really loud. I can't wait to get rid of them. Off road they have great traction but too bad for you if you drive over any kind of weeds.

I've got DuraTracs on my 80 and my pickup and they've been the best tire I've owned, and I kinda hate goodyear. Hope I didn't just jinx myself there. I put Cooper ST Maxx on my daughters rig and they wear super fast (like every crapper, I mean Cooper I've owned). Despite my cooperpinions I found a smokin deal on some STT Pros for my 40 so I went for it. We'll see how those do. I'm a tire whore.

First I've heard of this - Duratracs have a good rep around here.

They are the softest compound & frankly for a straight road tire I like Bridgestone (not a GY fan-boy) - but the warmer you have ambient temp asphalt the more I know that GY has a rep for wearing funky in any way possible.

I'm on my 3rd set of GY MT-range (1 set 1st gen MT-r, 2 sets the newer tread & 'Kevlar sidewalls') - since I'm more a poser now than I was in the past, I was actually thinking about Duratracs for the next set in ~10K.

Nobody up here with Duratracs on a pickup has had a single bad word - and a I bet 6+ truck owners I know have them.

That's really odd to hear.

@shocktower - having to pay for the mount & balance is BS. I'd put that tire shop's name out here. I know my local Discount tire gives me free re-balance & even when I sliced a sidewall on a Interco (LX450 days) -they sold me, the replace $$ to me was just straight tire cost & sales tax.

They're screwing you, at least that's what I'd think if it was me.

I didn't have any complaints with the 1/2 worn BFG K-O2's on the old 40th AE -- maybe I'll revisit those for the next set myself.

I'd send Goodyear a little email, let them know your experience & the lot # of the remaining 3 tires, link this thread where they're not exactly feeling the love. Worst case they ignore you.

That tire shop is jerking you though on fees, esp if you bought any form of coverage.

Next time...Toyo...great tires

Duratracs have worked very well for me. Sounds like maybe there are some QC issues because they are either great or people report a lot of issues. I bought the 3.5 years ago, wheeled in Texas plus daily drove the truck. Lived in Moab for 4 months and went out offroad at least 3x a week, then drove back and forth to Texas twice and then from Moab to Virginia and went over 100mph and they have since been on the truck for 2 years of city driving. lol. The only thing they haven't seen is real wet, muddy, trails like say the PNW.

Ummm...last i checked the 80 series land cruiser didn't have dynamic awd like subarus, audis, lamborghinis etc... no need for same size tires, you could run a 33" spare if your 35" went flat and you wouldn't burn up your center diff. Newer dynamic AWD you can burn up with anything more than 3/32 difference in front and rear tires but that doesn't not really apply to non computer controlled/ non-dynamic AWD.

This might be true for a short distance (to the tire shop or home from the trail) but over time it would cause issues.

Uhhmmm I have a VC, and it does mess them up, so it is a dynamic ADW

Oh I know it, because my last warranty tire, just a month ago, with prorate it was mounted and balanced $107, guy was a jerk I will be calling GY tomorrow and figure something out even if I have to go to another GY tire shop, BTW, it is Lake Oswego Goodyear tire center

I bought a set for 1996 FZJ80 in 2011. Nice on the road, not bad with noise, good traction on snow and ice. But after the moose totaled the Cruiser I swapped the tires onto our Suburban and a few months later my wife got a sidewall gash while driving around town!???!

I also put a set on my 2004 Chev quad cab diesel. Within the first week I drove into my bro-in-laws remote property and had a small stick take out a sidewall. I will not be buying a set of Duramax's ever again.
