About 2 weeks shy of 2 years for me. Still shifting great here too.

Just went for a drive. I'm seeing about the same numbers you are at idle with the AC on/off and the foot on the brake. You might consider an aux fan to supplement air flow at idle.

That sounds about right. I'll check later today on my rig. I think you just reminded me about my weird driving habit too. I usually pop the transmission into neutral when I'm at a stop light. I think it's a habit I carried over from the early...

Why are you idling so low with the AC on @ 650? My rig idles around 800-1000 with AC on. Lower idle, means lower fan speed and less air being pulled across the radiator for cooling. I'd check on your IAC valve to get your idle to bump up some and...

The a440 gasket works without issue. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/fzj80-a442f-transmission-solenoids-from-aw450-43le.988260/page-2#post-13318102

I thought you were alluding to reaching 217 regularly in hot temps(100+ even while moving). If you start moving and temps lower back down to 190, radiator is most likely fine. I would agree with @BILT4ME that the fan clutch could use some more...

For reference, when we drove the 80 and 200 from Oregon to Arizona at the end of June, I had my wife drive the 80 while towing a trailer weighing about 2500lb full of our belongings. I was towing the larger trailer with the 200. We were in...

Throwing this out there as something else to look into. I had steering wheel shakes on a couple vehicles. Ended up being some pitting on the front caliper pistons causing uneven braking. The problem got worse the warmer the brakes got.

I'm with @Malleus on this one. I doubt a little bit of foam is going to make the difference between cooling and not. I too have run some of my own vehicles without fan shrouds and it didn't make much difference. The fan clutch on the 80 is pretty...

I would say your fan clutch is on the weak side if you're saying it takes a couple minutes to cool back down while revving at idle with the AC off. I recently moved to Arizona and have seen quite a few 110+ days. The fan clutch on my cruiser...

For the first time, it took 3 of us 13 hours. Next rig, it was down to 2 of us and took about 8-9 hours. Both friends were sick when I decided to do my own rig and took 6 hours. Got pretty familiar with the process by then. Lots and lots of cleaning.

Just wanted to give folks some more insight into an alternator replacement on the 200. I had the battery dash light pop up on me the other day. Checked voltage on the battery while running and was only getting 11.6v or so. The alternator needed...

I found some old pictures of when I had the same leak way back in 2012. You can see the condition of the nipple pipe. 3 new orings and a new nipple pipe fixed it.

No need to change the bypass pipe. It's the nipple pipe and all 3 orings that do the sealing. You'll probably find that the nipple pipe has corroded a bit and is no longer sealing with the orings in place. Don't forget to have some extra coolant...

Pretty common leak. Had it on my '94 as well. On that bypass pipe, the bottom side nipple and 2 or orings are leaking. Grab a new oring for the top of the bypass pipe and get a new nipple pipe with both orings.

In my opinion the types of air injection systems in the 90s varied in location and look so much that unless you have someone intimately familiar with an 80 series Cruiser, they would easily skip over it. Properly removed it looks stock too. The...

EDIT: Sounds like typical valve train noise to me as well. Try switching to 5w-30 at the next oil change. Lots of folks, myself included, have made the switch and noticed reduced valve train noise after doing so.

Well lovely... about to move to Maricopa County in a couple weeks and the current plates on my rig expire in September this year. I removed the PAIR system several years ago and yes, it does pass the sniff test with no issues. Now off to the...
