Hi all, I am getting rolling on my restoration on my 1977 fj40. But something looks off with the engine. Can someone tell me what this is (f maybe?) and would here have been a reason they swapped?

That’s an interesting idea though. You think I’m better off selling this to someone who wants a 1f and replacing it with a 2f? I’m not looking to make money here but there might be an opportunity to trade someone. If you were closer I buy the 1f off of you!
Absolutely. The only reason to keep an F engine is that it was original, which is wasn't in your '77.That’s an interesting idea though. Billings. My dad picked it up in Spearfish SD in 1989. At this point I think I’ll clean the engine up, test compression, and either try to find someone who wants to swap for a 2f or put it back in once I get the restoration complete (which is probably a few years down the road).it is an early F as it has the oil filler into the block
maybe an F145? mid/late 60's
where in MT are you?
let me know if the price is right I might could afford to ship it.That’s an interesting idea though. You think I’m better off selling this to someone who wants a 1f and replacing it with a 2f? I’m not looking to make money here but there might be an opportunity to trade someone.
I will. I am in no hurry to rush into anything and I want to make sure this engine has good compression before I start making deals. But it might be a win win with the right person.let me know if the price is right I might could afford to ship it.
