The WMA permits are also available at the local Dicks Sporting Goods as well as the local Walmart if you chose to wait until you arrive.
I have been to several GSMTR events at Windrock park, and all we have had to obtain is the park camping/riding passes. Maybe the TWRA permits were included in our event registration, but I didn't ever get one separately...
Sam Houston (our woefully underpaid trail guide) said that a portion of Friday's trails are within the boundary of the WMA. Sam (@elkaholic ) can provide additional information if needed.
If you're going in to Royal Blue, they're very careful about fees and permits there. They have elk and don't want the ecosystem impacted any more than necessary.

Yeah, that makes sense. If you are leaving the bounds of Windrock park, and venturing into places like Royal Blue, it is necessary. Didn't know that, wish I was coming along!~

Andrew, A portion of Friday's trails are within the boundary of a WMA. A permit is required to enter this area. (One permit per vehicle regardless of occupants .... $37.00). Post #356-360 covers the application process. If you have any questions about the process, please give me a shout.
