The Ultimate V-8 swap for a 40?

I'd have to say this might be the perfect motor swap for a 40 for those that wanted to keep it all Toyota and want period correct V-8.

This is a vintage Toyota 4V series all aluminum V-8 engine. This engine is a very rare, low production unit used in Toyotas early Flagship vehicle the Century. The Century was made to compete with Mercedes Benz and BMWs in the European market. It did very well in the UK but never spread to the US. The engine used was the 4V series all aluminum V8 engine you see up for auction here. This engine is a 3.4L carbureted engine with pushrods. A real american style V8 Build by Toyota. The 4V series engine was built from 1973-1977. Very few are left today and they attact tons of attention. I have seen them installed in ealry Ford and Chevy hot rods with multiple carburetion and blowers. The engines originally came equipped with a Rochester 4GC 4 barrel carb. The Rochester 4GC was used on many GM muscle cars of the early to mid-60's and is certainly no sloutch.

And that looks to be an Aisan 4bbl double window carb. Interesting.

Edit: nevermind it's a rochester.

Wonder if these are Strombergs or SD40 on top of that blower?

I like it 4 banger + 4 banger + Vconfig = 4 V

Would need to raise that oil filter...or have a really good side plate under it

BTW the part number is not valid and doesnt cross reference

I believe the reason was period correct Toyota V8. The lexus wasn't even made when the FJ40/FJ55 were being made.

I'll take a 5.7 ls1 thanks. FAST e-distributor. I wouldnt want a 3.4 v8 in anything over 3000 pounds unless I see a dyno curve that convinces me otherwise.

Here's a non-"period correct" engine that is going into an FJ40 (chassis/body stretched ten inches). It's Lexus in a Toyota. Driving TH400, driving Atlas 4spd, Driving Rock Jock 60's.
