Could go with Landtank LCAs and keep UCAs stock. Pretty sure changing the UCA length changes where the wheel moves in the wheel well.

I would but I have SPC Lowers and really don't want to buy another set of lower. And in theory lengthening the lowers and keeping stock uppers would also change the placement of the wheel in the wheel wells. Idk Im a little frustrated with the whole situation.

I just got my denso wires and fuel pump.... OMG i think the engine grew two cylinders...

The PO had an AIRTEX fuel pump in??? and the wires were NGK and didn't have too many wear marks but there were definitely some questionable areas. Picts to come tomorrow. Also the + to the fuel pump had some breaks, which I cut out soldered and double wrapped.

The rig runs soooooooooooo much better now.

So its running better and cooler. Before adding these items I was seeing engine coolant temps of 190* on discharge from the engine, now I am seeing 178-183*. Also my cruise control is now working...? It use to just blink 5 times and turn off.

So here are the picts;
AIRTEX? sounds like a cheap vatozone pump

The positive wire to the pump was sliced to the core right at the metal brace.. I imagine it made contact several times perhaps contributing to my intermittent studder.

I would have liked to replace the whole line as the insulation was very past its date, but since it is riveted on I left it and soldered in a new piece of wire and double heat shrinked it.

Oh and as I was driving home I noticed that they were delivering my new engine.

Welp my excitement regarding my cruise control coming back to life was short lived... Looks like I actual am going to have to trouble shoot it.
Good news is I did find the ground short in the rear that was keeping my rear wiper and hi mount brake light from functioning (I will post pictures). Now if I could figure out why my defroster isn't working.

So the old girl ran flawlessly up I 70 to winter park twice this last weekend. Held 185 on the temp gauge and ran better and with more power than it has ever run since I've owned it... Then I washed the old girl and all hell went to s*** in a hand basket. The stutter came back....ENOUGH!

Operation remove PO's Janky Wiring Phase 2!

Time for engine harness replacement.

The last bolt on the upper intake mani was a total B word to get off

I did find an issue with the wires feeding the igniter. I've been shocked by this wire before so I taped it but I noticed that it was broken right at the connector so cleaned it with brake cleaner, dielectric'd it and test drove it around. Still had a major cut out. So I made the jump to do the whole harness.

Chinese fuel filter... I shouldn't expect any less from the PO.

Oh and the rubber bit was something I pulled out of he inside of the filter, it was just flopping around in there.

Quick question.....

I have overheated my rig, for how long IDK but it ran dry and was pegged. It seems to run fine, no contamination so far... But I have my upper intake manifold off and everything taken apart. Would it be a good idea to just replace the HG at this point since I am halfway there?

YES!!!!!!!
OMG I HAVE FIGURED IT OUT!

I have finally pinpointed the problem causing the engine stutter and cruise control failure! Thank the baby jesus!

So I am selling the Mall Crawler to my good friend Ben on saturday, so I knew my time was limited to be able to cross check parts. In a last ditch effort I swapped the last 10" of wire and connector going from the fuse harness to the ignition coil. This is the taped up wire seen here.

The Mall Crawlers wire and connector is in great shape, so I soldered that one into the trail snail and put the trail snails questionable one in the mall crawler. Well last night after our club meeting I was headed home when I got the EXACT SAME stutter! And when I tried to engage cruise control it faulted out and blinked 5 times. THESE ARE THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS I WAS SEEING ON THE TRAIL SNAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hallelujah! The Mall Crawler is mechanically perfect and has NEVER exhibited any issues what so ever, so I am confident that I have found the culprit. Now I just need to track down a replacement connector and get the mall crawler back to perfect.

Good lord it feels nice to know that I have finally found it!

- Ordered a BA9S-RHP5 red LED for the map light for night ops.
- Ordered a ZMF-281 external speaker for my Ham radio

-Need to order a dose of sanity so I stop spending $ on this thing....

A big thanks to @JohnnyOshow22 and Polly for helping me with the harness installation!

Everything is back together!

  • All vacuum lines have been replaced (you need 12' of the small line if you redo everything under the upper intake manifold on a 93-94)
  • Injectors have been cleaned, serviced and flow tested (they all leak down but whatever)
  • Main engine harness has been replaced
  • New air filter
  • New oem fuel filter
  • Cleaned IAC, Throttle Body, and all EGR passages

Engine and everything back together

Was missing some spacers for the plug wires so I got creative with some vacuum hose and zip ties

These denso wires are not the best when it comes to fit. I was expecting better honestly, some were the right length others were too long. So its kind of a mess near the distributor.

Oh and I found a really simple way to retain a bolt in a socket, cut a finger off of a latex glove and pull it over a the socket. I ended up taping it in place so I wouldn't lose it. Worked great.
