I am sad to report that Max the shop dog passed yesterday. He was 18 years old. We buried him next to one of his favorite horses, Tiger. RIP buddy, thanks for being a great old hound.

So sorry to hear that Stan. Sam seemed like a chill lil wrenching buddy in all his pics. Peaceful thoughts for you and Heather as well as his furry household buddies.

Sorry to hear that Stan the passing of pets suck

Sorry about Max @NCFJ. Eighteen years is pretty old for a dog, but still not near long enough :( RIP Max!

Thank you all for the kind words, means a lot. I filled his bowl yesterday morning when feeding the cats and dogs. Old habits.

Crina. Year and a couple months Lab/Chesapeake Bay, Border, and 2% (according to DNA results) German Shepherd. Smart, strong, stubborn, mischievous, and better get acclimated to jumping into one of the 80s on command. Tips?

Food. Get her/him jumping on to something shorter first, work your way up. Food and praise has worked for every dog I ever trained. The two guys in my avatar only needed to hear "Load Up" and they were in the truck. they are in my pick up in the photo.

Meet Dino (though he doesn't seem to have a clue what his name is, so that might change). About 5 years old. Some sort of mix. Got him this morning at the local Humane Society. Seems completely calm so far. Has no interest in our cats or the other dogs at the shelter. Absolutely loves having his snout on a scent trail and has stopped and pointed a few times. We were also really happy with how well he traveled in the back of the 450, although he misjudged the height of tailgate at first! He his first vet appointment on Friday, so we're looking forward to that.

Oh Stan - I'm really sorry to hear this. Hope you are finding some peace after a couple of imaginably hard days.

He has been with us for about 8 months now but will still make an introduction. Meet Hadron. A rescue; we estimate him to be close to 1-year old now. He has comfortably made the place his own and finds a way to make us smile daily.

Looks to have some Catahoula.

I was just reminded how damned expensive it can be to feed a larger dog. Petco just took a bunch of my money. You small dog folks have got it made! But at least I don't have the expense of TWO extra large-sized German Shepherd Dog's this time. (notice how I avoided abbreviation and acronyms there? reference from another, for those of you not paying attention. ;) )

Meet Gibbs!
Our five month old yellow lab. A couple at Bragg with an alpha male German Shepard (who didn't like this sweet guy) got him from a family who had just had a baby and couldn't handle all this puppy and a newborn, so after jumping homes a few times.... This big chunk is ours! He makes yet another lab that ONSC has.. But, this guy isn't black so hopefully there will be a little less confusion on who he is roaming around events hahah. His paws are massive, I am interested to see how big the vet thinks he's going to be.
