Got powder coat color samples.

Planning on using new fjord grey or black on all the painted parts, then on the powder coated pieces using some green color. here are some samples. Any opinions?

That RAL 7033 looks like a nice tone that would still show green, but also match pretty well with the body color.

..part of me really likes the frog skin too, but it would really stand out...

Made up a mount for the old block and engine and got the new to be engine on the stand.

Tore down the engine to a hunk of steel. Bearings show some wear, but really pretty good. Will take it to the machine shop this week and start painting/powdercoat pieces.

Time to order some bearings and other parts.

That piston looks to be in good shape. It was hard to tell from just the one photo, but your cylinder wall looked fine to me. Maybe a little water staining in there from the gasket leaking. What rings and bearings did you decide to go with ?

Does not say what kind of oil it really is. Sounds a lot like snake oil for nearly $30 for 8 oz. I would like to know what kind of oil was originally put in these gear drives. I would bet it is a conventional dino oil without any magic additives. Maybe a dollar's worth?

Ted at Carquest on Troost took a look at the engine and we are within the wear specifications. Got a lot of cleaning and hone, then throw on some paint and put her back together.

Started working on parts and pieces for the motor. Taking Beno's advice and painting or powdercoating everything.

Reminds me of a fj40 thread making a big fat gay 2f motor -- hopefully the color selection my son makes will look good.
