well well well....
comparing apples with pears, slow reving diesels with high rev petrol race cars.

I am sure the point of an OEM to choose a TMI is production cost and effiency
Im also sure that with a high revving petrol race engine, the low rev range is actually totally out of focus

In the end its working for me, so I leave it as it is.
If I would do it again on a big diesel offroad car I would go for top mount +fan
(even cheaper and quicker to install)

The pipe job on my cruiser was time consuming

A slow revving diesel and a high revving petrol car aren't that different.
We are literally talking about 1 revolution of an engine. 1.

If the diesel is spinning 2500 rpm that's 1 revolution every .024 seconds

My 6000 rpm 730hp drag truck is making a revolution every .01 seconds.

If you can tell the difference in .014 seconds when it comes to building boost, you sir are a wizard.

Haven't seen it anywhere, does anyone have any experience with or feedback on PEC Australia?

Of course I see this now... until yesterday I was sort of living in the next suburb.

Will have to stick my head in next year when I'm 'home' again.

It looks like a tidy kit, though the core is slung low (vulnerable? Blocked by the front cross member when reinstalled?) and a result looks to only be 450mm or so wide to fit between the rails, whereas a 600 will fit up behind the grille. Piping on both sides runs under/outside the chassis instead of squeezing behind the indicators, solonger run and again potentially vulnerable?

Dunno... I'm nitpicking, but if I'm gonna spend the money I want the best possible result.

Yes I agree it does look like it fits pretty good. Any more photos? I’d like to see how it all mounts. Pipes do look a bit skinny.

Lists piping as 2" & 2.5"

Confirms core size as 450x300x76.

looks like PEC has a V2 out

Where did you find this? It's not on their website or eBay au.

Any specs? Looks like it could be the same kit, just with the core photographed upside down?
here is the ebay link Front Mount V2 Intercooler Kit For Toyota Landcruiser 80 Series 4.2L 1HDT-H, 1HZ | eBay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/153113507751?nma=true&si=HbpK59U3GhR7zCOONN0g1Ky6NuA%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Hmmm... interesting.

So same size core, but apparently v2 core. Photos show two completely different coolers, the end tanks at least having different in/out locations:

I'm glad I live local (sometimes) and could actually drop in and ask/see... but to be honest with no local listing, and no installed pics, I'm not adding this to the wishlist just yet.

I want 2.5" piping entirely contained within the chassis rails, and a reasonable quality core... preferebly for a little less than the cost of the benchmark PDi kit.

Guess I should brush up on my TIG skills.

yeah, i hear yeah!

I'm in the same boat... I wouldn't mind buying one to use as a template.. please do let me know what you find out when you visit the shop locally :)

I would like to build one with a set of Vibrant HD clamps 2.5" or 3" hose if possible.

How did you do your piping? Or are you still working on it?

The shop is all done! I can't do pipework very well so I sent it off. I thought about going thru the front cross member but I like the simpler style of this. Way out of the way of the wheels and worst case I can make a shield for them.

Tell me more about your manifold thermal blanket, did it make a difference, and in what way?

Ah I got the blanket to try and help keep temps down in the engine bay and help keep so much heat from coming into the cab after all the work I did. I also have a blanket on the hx35w. Next step is to wrap the downpipe since it's so close the the drivers footwell. It's almost driveable so I'm not even sure if it's going to help yet.
