w00t - w0w! - never had it, heard great things, but never seen it really. I need to get over there and try that.

On the flavor of the month from Foothills:

I think Foothills is my favorite NC Brewery that is "available" - - You can buy Hoppyum all over the place - their flavor of the month is almost always > Stone imho.

Al - you live the beer life I want to live! :)

thanks but it's not much.... Wife loves good Beer, I do, no kids. It's our one vice. We search out good deals though or instead of going to watch a movie for $20 we get a $16 beer and go sit on a porch, balcony, rock in nature and enjoy it and the time together. We cheap elsewhere and often. It does take some work if you want rare and hard to find beers though as in charlotte there are here and gone in a few hours and normally when most of us normal people are at work.... so it takes long lunch breaks on certain days for me and Andrea to go stand in line and get KBS or something like that.

I'm not quite sure what my favorite NC Brewery is. I like foothills for the reasons you said and their ipa of the month. My favorite beer that has come from NC is Monstro from NODA, scotch ale from ass clown and Event Horizon from Olde Hickory.

Favorite IPA from NC are X-pat IPA from ForthNight, Shiva from Asheville and one from Green Man whose name I cannot recall. Hoppy Holidays is up there but only comes out at Xmas from NODA. I love the brews from Oskar Blues and Sierra Nevada but I wouldn't call them Carolina Beers as they were created elsewhere. \

I love the breweries here in NC and the beer culture in Charlotte, its Unique.

This weekend's best-of. The Knee Deep didn't disappoint:

the tastings from the last week.

Hoparillo was a good beer but I thought I was going to like it more due to my love of amarillo hops

Working Man's Lunch from Full Steam.... not terrible but had a bad "flat" back taste to it

And bottled the Pumpkin beer..... I think I may have bottled too early but the :princess: wanted them for our hurrican creek/pisgah camping trip this weekend so we will see. If the taste of it before I bottled it is any indication it is going to be damn tasty.

as for now i'm off on my camping trip to places where I get no signal..... see you all in a week!!!

Al - - Keep forgetting to mention. I got over to Saxapahaw late this last weekend, and the Haw River limited release event was in full swing - - must have been 200 people in line for 360 bottles with a 3 bottle limit. I got a coffee and went home QQ - very sorry.

What are some good bottle shops around the south side of Charlotte. 201Central is nice but I found a lot of the beer to be close to out of date.

Frugal MacDugals
Stateline liqour and beer
carolina beer temple
brawley's beverage
mikes discount beverage

Al, who does all the artwork for your labels?
They always look great

The perniçious is quite tasty.

Another recent favorite here by evil twin.

No local luck on the Grapefruit Sculpin anymore, but here was what I enjoyed last week. I picked up the first two in VA this week. The rest came from the clearance cart at Harris Teeter. All of them were pretty good, even the pumpkins.

I found Grapefruit Sculpin this afternoon ... Still available at Stateline Elite ...

Grapefruit Sculpin is at Weaver St Market in bottles at Carrboro - seems to always be there. Yippies must drink more wine than beer.

My wife discovered our local Lowes Foods is filling growlers now. Between that and their soon-to-be-open sushi bar she may never leave the store.

If anyone needs
Grapefruit sculpin @btlrev on lake Boone still has a bunch. Let me know if some out of towers need some.

The one here near our new house is Cary does as well - and they have Grapefruit Sculpin right now.
