I've been thinking about something like this for a bit and was wondering if this would be something anyone would be interested in doing. Either in part or all at once. I am sure we would gravitate to as many forest service roads as possible or as time allows etc. No idea how long it would take. Just interested.

I'd be interested in driving / camping all or part

Same here.

Something like this would be running a mini version of the Trans American Trail, which is something that I have always wanted to do. I certainly would be up for this since I don't have the time to do the TAT. TAT will just have to wait and be added to the bucket list.

A few thoughts, speak up with yours too

There certainly would be time constraints for all involved so I think that would be the first and foremost consideration.

-Folks could jump in and out of the group dependent on their own agenda and schedule
-Route taken would most likely be on a day to day basis. I personally would prefer not have a pre arranged itinerary, having to be at location X on Thurs. Go at the pace that works, some things are worth stopping to see rather than just cruising by.

- I can tell you that a motel or just use of a real shower will also be on our schedule on a regular basis :)

- Contact other clubs along the way, maybe we can have the benefit of locals that know where the best routes are for our needs or will want to join in for a bit.

@custyota, can you shed some light on the #fatballs on your signature? Is this a medical condition?

Also, when and where did you serve in the USMC?

It's a slow afternoon at the office...I should go home!

So many great things already in this thread to include the idea of driving the AT all the way to the yet undefined #Fatballs :)

I would definitely want to do this!

What, fatballs?

I do love the way some threads just go careening right off the rails.

Sorry that I tugged on the steering wheel......

I've never been a fan of itineraries for a vacation. Schedules are something I am vacationing from :)

My basic idea is to start at the bottom,GA and work up. I figure that it can go a couple ways

1. Do GA to ME in one trip, I figure a couple weeks off from work
2. Do it in stages, 3-5 days at a time. Pick up where we left off on the next trip etc. This will take longer overall due to the drive back times etc.

We should each probably put together a list of specific things we want to see. I can tell you that when we hit PA I am going to want to hit Doylestown, PA and visit my Mom. I figure that people with side trips can either do them on the drive back or separate from the group and meet up further up the road.

@GLTHFJ60 would you care to enlighten everyone on team #fatballs? Stan sorry, I did not intend to hi jack your thread, maybe @GLTHFJ60 will make #fatballs a sticky lol

Inside joke from one of the barn trips over the winter IIRC. @custyota has #fatballs
