Hello, i was thinking of running the Hurricane Creek Trail this summer. I am getting conflicting information online, some say its closed, other say its open. Does anyone in the area know if it's actually open or not?

thank you !

I didn’t try but I’d be willing to bet you can still access max patch, round Mtn camp, and Martha Sunquist via state gravel roads.

I took big creek exit in TN over to del Rio working my way toward family reunion

Wolf creek had access from the hot springs side. Didn’t push on to round Mtn this trip as it was a short one and was trying to camp closer to Sunday destination

I thought Wolf Creek falls had a gate now and requires visitors to walk down the road to the parking area.

Falls trail/rd has boulders placed at road, correct. But access to the area from 25/70 via upper shut-in was not gated as it has been in past at times.

Just went and looked on ONX and it said this. You should have a good chance later on this year. It’ll be cooler too! I’d love to hit some good trails up there too when the family is feeling frisky. Maybe a trail ride/campout thing. We’re trying to get our kids camping more. Guess I should probably at least invest in some rock sliders at some point.

Helene really damaged that area. I would highly encourage anyone to tread lightly ie wait until the fall or even next year to give time to repair and recover.

I too hate not playing (hiking, backpacking) in what was my backyard (Pisgah, Smokies, Grandfather Mtn, the AT from Bryson City to north of Hot Springs) for 17 years.

Y’all that have run it before, think a bone stock cruiser would make it?

I’ve done it in my stock 100 on 33s and sliders but that was pre-storm. I can’t speak to what it looks like now.

Edit: Yes, a stock cruiser would make it how it was pre-storm.
