I'm looking to ditch the wire cable for a synthetic rope. I've google reviewed my self to death looking at various manufactures. What do you run and would you buy it again?

Be sure to switch your fairlead out if not switching to hawse. If retaining roller type go with Delrin rollers they're synthetic.

Wow, I didn't know anybody still ran steel cable anymore.

I have Rockstomper synthetic rope on my HS9500, I have used it several times and it's done well. Get a spare sleeve, they can get chewed up.

Master pull is one ive been looking at.
7/16's withe factory55 1.5 hawse fairlead and factory55 splicer.

@KLF - i purchased the Warn Zeon 12 platinum when it first came out. Synthetic wasnt an offering in the zeon 12 only in the zeon 10.

Plus ive never gotten stuck try as i might
The truck just chews through terrain.

Looking to see a if anyone has any feedback on the Bubba rope also.
Thanks

When I was researching my winch options, I came across a Warn rebuild thread and they use SouthEast Overland's synthetic line.

They're a supporting vendor on MUD, so worth consideration perhaps.

(disclaimer - I'm not affiliated with SE, but I have purchased a snatch strap and soft shackles from them - great stuff.)

I'll be swapping out to synthetic someday, plus extension, and will look first to SouthEast Overland.

I have SE Overland synthetic on my 40. It's never failed me and Steve's a good guy to support. I still have the steel line on my 200 that came with the winch... if I ever have to use it, I might remember that I should swap that out. I'm going to OL Expo next weekend and SEO will be there. Maybe he'll have some there for sale.

Since you're making some updates to your recovery system you might investigate the Soft Shackle product? Bubba Rope is a very good product for kinetic recovery

I'm running AmSteel in my 60 and Tacoma Warn winches. Hawse fairing for sure.

X3 on Southeast Overland. Great products and they support the LC AND IH8MUD community!

@Willy beamin - I'm on my second line (soon to be third, thanks to the Moab rocks and winching up 5 trucks!) and I haven't noticed any difference across brands of synthetic line. They're all remarkably strong and abrasion resistant. I wouldn't sweat the brand too much.

I do see a lot of talk about a Hawse style fairlead and while that's what Slee put on my truck initially, I've swapped that one out for a roller fairlead with no issues. I've had extreme pulls at multiple angles, too.

I'm not going to say I've winched more than anyone else with a 200... but I bet I'm in the top 5. :)

@Canyonero if you remember which lines have you tried so far

Not sure on the first one, this is my current line.

I checked out some reviews on the poly rollers (daystar) for the fairlead, not good performance. I'm interested in a set of super dense hard plastic rollers if anyone wants to chime in with a suggestion with good standings. personal experience is always appreciated. thanks

To prevent the 'it can't happen but just did' roller pinch I second Markuson"s post

@Willy beamin here is what I installed. Works great, no issues. Reviews on Amazon echo the sentiment.

It's a great design with no "pinch" capability from what I can tell, or from what I experienced. Many of the pulls I had to do in Moab were at extreme angles against the rollers. I did have the fairlead actually come off from my bumper towards the end, but I think the nuts worked themselves loose over the extreme environment and pulls, should be easy for me to re-install. I can't remember if they were nylon lock nuts or cheapies; guessing they were not lock nuts since they came off. In any case, the fairlead itself proved to be a good value.

I also agree with what @Markuson said about a thicker hawse fairlead. When Slee installed mine, I don't know what they were thinking because the Slee fairlead was tucked behind the front-most part of my ARB bumper. Any pull at an angle caused abrasion on the line, and caused premature failure of my winch line. So whatever you do, make sure the fairlead is front-most on the bumper.
