What do you mean?

Pull some fresh air from the side cowling vent. I'd be interested to see what the IATs are pulling from the back of the engine bay. I know I get hot IATs at the front, but I have a lot of stuff up front that blocks some fresh air.

I am pulling fresh air from the hood vent. I opted to pull from there because it’s higher and I was concerned with pulling in water when I cross Pole Creek in the spring.

I have only driven it twice since I brought it home. Once was for 30 minutes with an outside temperature of 95°F, engine temperature of 200-205°F and in slow-moving traffic. The second time was the next morning. Outside temp was 55°F, engine temp was 195-205°F and I was moving at highway speeds. Both times that I checked the IAT and it was between 110-113°F, which is about 10-15 degrees cooler than with a completely open air filter.

I imagine that I’ll produce more heat on longer trips and I haven’t been monitoring the IAT that closely so it may have gotten hotter than that on those two trips. I’ll track the IAT and report back but I can say that my I infrared temperatures under the hood are quite a bit lower with this LS compared to my SBC. I’m quite impressed.

Something else to note that boggles my mind a bit is that my Dakota Digital gauges have 3 air temperature readings marked: ambient, air and intake. The latter two used to read within a few degrees of each other prior to the cold air box but the air is now reading around 40 to 45°F when the intake, which is pulling from my MAF sensor, is reading between 110-113°F. I have no idea where the “Air” reading is coming from.

Sounds like it's working well. I'm guessing that the higher reading is in the engine intake rather than the airbox, but I'm not sure.

I was mistaken. I had another look and my ambient air and air temp are the same. For some reason they can be displayed with the compass or just the temperature alone. The ambient air sensor was moved when the air box was installed and I haven’t routed that sensor to outside of the engine compartment yet.

I don’t have a sensor on the airbox itself. I was simply referring to the airbox as a reference point. My MAF is 12” from the airbox.

I thought that I’d post this picture of the odometer hitting, almost, the first 200 miles since it’s been back on the road. I love how Dakota Digital made the numbers appear to turn as you drive. Nice touch.

Right. I’m just trying to keep things unique. I considered getting all 5 tires from different brands, but I decided that I wanted at least some consistency.

The odd tire is my spare that I picked up used last year while I was mocking up my suspension and body. The wheel on that spare is slightly different and my 5th wheel hasn’t arrived yet. Hopefully it will be here by the end of the month.

The tires break loose VERY easily in the dirt BTW. I need more weight in the back.

Hey Mike, could you pull a few measurements for me? Front suspension, measurement from center of bolt hole on your coilover mount at the top to the center of bolt on the axle side mount for coilover. Remind me what size tires are you running?

You bet. I was actually measuring this a few weekends back to set the ride height and I believe that it ended up at 28.5” at ride height. I’ll double check the numbers tonight when I get home.

I’m running 40x13.5r17” tires.

I was off a bit. I am at 26” at ride height and that is with 4” of up travel.

My frame height is sitting at 24” in the center of the frame under the door. I think that I may have said in your thread that it was 21”, and that would have been with the small tires.

I may need to lift the front another inch or so to work right with my springs, or switch my upper springs per Accutune’s suggestion but I’ll wait until the cage and rest of the gear is on before I adjust any further.

Thanks Mike. I don't have my tires on yet but have everything mocked up as if it was at ride height. I should be somewhere close to 21" at my crossmember for transmission. That is my lowest point.

need to find out what that will measure with the 40" tires aired down. Should drop it to around 18-19" at maybe 8psi in the tires
