"For optimal performance, operate your SPOT TRACEwith the logo pointed toward the sky and avoid metal obstructions."

Was liking this a lot until I read the " avoid metal obstructions" part.
Kind'a limits the install locations.
Anyone used one of these?

So I'm wondering, any updates on your truck? Sorry we got off topic with all the security stuff.
I sure hope you get it back in one piece.

No worries, it's good discussion that will hopefully help keep others in the future (and me!) from losing their trucks to thieves.

I didn't think it would be an option, but I've already replaced my truck. This time around, I'm in a '65 FJ40. The 62 is unquestionably a chassis I'm going to revisit, but I wanted to change things up to get my mind off the loss. Restarting on an FJ62 right now just feels like salting an open wound.
The FJ40 is a bit of a project, but I'm hugely excited to get it in tip-top shape and to take it on some adventures. It's a phenomenally rust-free example with not a speck to be found, short of the patina it is earning. It's got some weird touches, and lots of needed attention, but as said, I'm excited for my new adventure and still pleased to be a part of the LC community.

Not as much cargo space as a 62, but super cool, congrats! I have to say, this whole discussion has gotten me to revisit my 'vehicle security' arrangements, and in-process upgrades..

I don't have it but i'm planning on getting it as soon as the 60 is done.

There is a guy on the 100 forum that installed this on a vehicle he purchased and he track it while being shipped and it was cool to watch where your rig is.

Nice 40 - you could have chosen so much more poorly!

I can understand the salted wound feeling. Enjoy the new 40 project. Looks fun.

I can't believe it, but I just got a call from police that my truck was found! Abandoned in La Mirada not far away.
I have no idea what condition it's in. The police say "undamaged" but who knows if the parts have been stripped off.
I'm heading to pick it up today, and I'll report back!

I am so happy!

Fantastic!!!!! Like finding a lost pup. Now, lock it up, chain it up, find a place to store it, post a guard, etc.etc.etc.

I swear I just found this thread and was reading about how it was stolen. I can't believe they found it. I'm happy the truck is going back to it's owner, best news I'll hear all day.

Seriously made my day!
A 60 and a 40, all in the same week!
We are humbled by your good fortune... or good planning ;)
Please post a pic of the happily reunited family.

WOOO! I hope "undamaged" is true in every sense of the word, but at the very least you got back the truck!

Congrats!!! You sir have some good Karma. Made my day :)

I TOLD YOU IT WILL BE FOUND!!!!!! I am very happy that your rig is back who cares if it's missing a few pieces or have some damage it can be fixed and replaced. Keep us posted and post some pics. Get a kill switch installed or put a pedal lock on that baby.

Having a FJ62 for over twenty years and a FJ40 for more then double that having your FJ62 back you will glad you have it for any driving other than on the trail. Not knocking the 40 series (have a few of them) just far from my first choice as DD with traffic involved.
