I know it's a long shot but eyes open in SW Colorado....hard to miss those rims.
To be honest, it may be a good idea to scan Craigslist for those rims, because a
decent thief would change those first, as they are so distinguishable.

Suffice it to say if I see your rig in Colorado I'll return it.

However, the piece of s*** thieves will go permanently missing...not by me of course as that would be illegal...and one should not take such matters into their own hands....or so I've been told.

Lotta deep, unspelunkable mine shafts here in Colorado...just sayin'

Thanks for the support everyone, and sorry for the lack of replies on my part. It's been a rough 24 hours.
My guess is the truck is long gone, down in central or South America already.
The bummer is my insurance plan doesn't cover theft (that will be changing) and I'm in no position to afford another cruiser any time soon.
I'll still lurk the boards, and I'll unquestionably return to LC ownership, as its one of the best vehicles I've ever owned... But gutted it won't be in the near future.

This looks a lot like your truck with different wheels and factory bumpers. The taillights are more faded than yours though, they could have been swapped too. If the interior seems to match up, might be worth asking someone to go check it out as a potential 'buyer' and look for the VIN or signs of VIN tampering.

Hey Mudders... Let's help this guy out! Anyone out there have an inexpensive project cruiser that you're willing to let go of cheap? Perhaps we can start a collection of folks that want to donate and pool our funds to buy it off you? If people can donate parts as well, that could also help. Let's get this guy back in a cruiser if we can. I'll chip in the first $100 if we find a rig. Anyone else with me?

That interior is very distinct as the back bench is OEM late-gray and the fronts have been recovered in non-OEM fabric...

That's incredibly generous, and something I can say is truly special about the LC community - but that's not necessary for you guys to do. If someone has a cheap truck they'd be willing to sell, it's something I'd try to pull some strings to afford, but pooling money for me is probably better spent in ways on folks that need it more. I've still got a roof over my head, so no worries. Thank you for the generosity though!

Good looking out! I wish it were my truck, but it's definitely not. The interior doesn't match, and the paint on the hood is too shiny.

I've got it on a number of Facebook groups and it's all over Instagram, I asked all of my contacts to share it. ARB, BJ Baldwin, the Hoonigans, etc have all helped to spread the word.

Keep the faith, Brother. I think the last one in the bay area ended up in a tow yard after the thieves dumped it (then got towed) several days later.

Great idea Cap! Definitely have some spares lying around too.

I know most of us here don't go to Pirate 4x4 but they do have a lot of members and i think they would glad to help when someone's rig is stolen. I'm sure they hate Thieves as well.

Hate to say it, but your rig is in mexico by now. My buddies audi tt was stolen here in norcal, and it was identified at the border crossing on camera, but once its in,there is no getting it back. Apparently they re title rigs down there all the time. He said the cartel ORDER what vehicles they want and have hired theives to go get what car they want. Pretty crazy. I will no doubt keep an eye out up north.

Where did you get the rims? What make and model are they? Just looking through ads for those might be
a step in the right direction.
Is there any number to call to check border crossings? Any distinctive stickers on the windows or scratches/dents
that are identifiable?

Don't comment with hateful remarks like that. Stay on topic here please.

Keeping any eye out on local craigslist up here in the PNW.

Already done plus a steering wheel lock......the Club doesn't do much.... bring a spare steering wheel and away you go... mine locks down to the brake pedal and I lock it tight

Sorry to hear about your loss. We got our 80 stolen about a year ago and man does it suck. We got it back by going to the city site and checking to see if there was a ticket received. We found it because the city surely was not looking for it. I carry full coverage on 80 and 60. I was bummed when I got hit. By the way. No, not everything ends south of the border. We have plenty of low lives here.

Often thieves will let a car sit somewhere for a while before they do anything with it and let it 'cool down' to make sure it doesn't have lo-jack or some kind of tracking tech on it. If no one comes to pick it up and the police don't seem to notice it, then it gets taken to wherever it is going to go, south of the border, a container ship, a chop shop or someplace to have a new identity slapped on it.

IMO, the best tech you can get for your desirable vehicle is a cell network based tracking device that is hidden in the vehicle. It needs to alert you when the vehicle is on the move so you know when it's stolen and then you can track it online. I'm working on my own build of such a system for my 80, there is a small monthly cost for a data connection dedicated to the vehicle, but at least if it gets stolen, I have a very good chance of recovering it.

You should post this on all the SoCal club houses....
If you haven't already....
Im sure the mods would allow it.. Given the circumstances.....

Just thinking outloud...

Go ahead and post in Beach&Toys.
