Well it looks like there won't be much accomplished this week or weekend.
I was just informed that I will not be allowed to work on the truck for a while due to the fact that I worked too late on the truck on saturday.

Super lame thing is I was cleaning up the shop for the mechanics that work there, and I was only there for 10 minutes after I should have been.

That is lame. Why the dumb rule?

The one owner of the greenhouses likes to be in control, so even though nothing is going on at night he wants me out of there at 11.

It is extremely generous of them to let me use it at all so I really can't complain. But the only time I can work on it is some weeknights and over the weekend so it limits what I can do for sure.

I really wish I had a place to work at my house, this would be finished by now.

In regards to the brake system, the FJ60 did not have an LSPV, the FJ62 frame I swapped my body onto does have one. Should I use the it or just bypass it and run some new lines?

Get rid of the LSPV, I doubt you'd ever get it working perfectly with your lift. I put an OME lift on and dumped it, brakes work much better now.

That's what I figured. Thanks for the information.
I'm planning on running all new hard lines for the truck. They're a little worn and rusted.

wow steve...I havent seen your progress in a while. Looks fantastic man!

Thanks, its almost finished. I can't wait to hit some trails.

Hows the 40 coming along?

ahhhhhhh the 40!!.......i just need to finish up the roof and doors. I've been drivin it when the sun is a shining though,
I seriously cant believe how good your rig is looking now. way to go stevo!
Im going to have to come visit family to check this thing out and take a ride too!

Anytime you want. I should have everything buttoned up and trail ready by the end of next month, if not sooner.

Time out ended sunday night so last night I was able to get back into the shop and get some work completed.

Fully welded the rear suspension and set the rear pinion angle to just shy of 15* which has it pointing right at the back of the T-case. Welded the spring perches to the axle and replaced the old breather fitting with a short nipple of 1/8th inch pipe.

On the front axle I pulled the axle, and threw the steel shims in I got from 4crawler.com. What a PITA, it would have been a lot easier with another set of hands.
My front pinion angle is now aiming a little bit lower the transfercase, hopefully when the springs settle it will be just right.

Shackle angles are just about right in the front and the rear now too.
Note: The rear shackle angle looks to tall, the picture was taken with a virtually empty rear compartment. Once weight is put in there the angle is just under 50*.

Little Bit of shop time tonight. Worked mainly on the brakes.

I'm in the process of deleting the LSPV so that simplifies the whole system a bunch. Also it turns out the extended brake lines I bought from NAPA were nowhere near long enough for the flex I get out of the suspension.

I also measured for shocks while flexing it out.
A comfortable 3 feet of flex front and rear.

The last little things always take the longest to get finished. I was hoping to get the brakes all wrapped up last night but the flex lines I had were nowhere near long enough.

Fortunately I have the old fj60 axles that were under it that I can cannibalize for lines and fittings.

That will be the job for thursday. Then once brakes are done I'll work on gettin it running and at least get a front DS made up so I can drive it around the yard.

I wanna hit some trails so bad. Its so smooth even when I am sitting in it to steer it out at night. Its nothing like the original suspension, if I couldn't see what I was riding in I would never guess it was a landcruiser.

Also I measured for shocks last night, and I am probably gonna buy some Bilsteins. Which type do you guys recommend 5100's, 5150's or 5165's?

There's been several reports of 5150 leakers so I'd choose a different model. I had a pair that let go with a short life. I run 5125s in the back (not enough dampening) and custom 7100s in the front (really like these).

As soon as this thing hits the road its going to be going on a pine barrens run.

Before that though I want to make sure I won't have any unexpected surprises with the truck, so my friend Sean and I are gonna make some trails in the woods on the property the truck is at.

Plus it will take some time to get it all registered and whatnot.
