I shifted my transfercase back 2" tonight.
Not much of an update but its better than nothing. I also bought the heims I need for my anti-wrap bar.

I have quotes coming from the local driveshaft shop and also from tom woods so I will see what the difference in price will be.

With the tcase moved back I can reuse the stock D250 rear driveshaft. I just need to get 2 new 1410 U-joints for it.

You're right, an update is an update. It is better than nothing. But where are the pictures?

It was dark, and it pretty much looked like I hadn't done anything different.

I hopefully can get all my brake and clutch lines finished along with the work that needs to be done to the tank so that way I can :steer: it once my new shafts come in.

I just will need to keep my foot out of it until I get my anti-wrap bar setup. :grinpimp:

Is that even possible?
It won't be easy, I'll have to try really hard.

I helped a buddy tear down his F350 last night and he let me have some mounted 37" military tires in exchange for my unmounted ones.

They are radials and aren't terrible offroad so I will probably end up running these for longer road trips and mild wheeling and DD duty I will have the 43" bias swampers for when I want to try something crazy or plan on doing a bunch of wheeling for the weekend.

I also got the heims in for my anti wrap bar. I got a set of two so I can build a wrap bar for the front if I find it twisting.

If I don't need to build a front wrap bar I will have a replacement for the rear bar.

It's always good to have back-ups.

Like the tires. What do the rims look like?

Rims are nothing special, just some steelies. I'll get some pictures.

So I switched the two mounted tires I have to the rear so I can remount my shocks up front and cut out the fenders.
The tires look pretty good back there.

They don't stick out too far either.

And here are the shock towers I will adapt to my hoops to drop the mounting location of my shocks lower.

I also had a buddy come over and help me drop the fuel tank.
I will send that out to get the extra ports plugged and the tank checked for leaks and sealed.

Updates with pictures:

I received my midshaft today and installed it into my truck.
There was an issue with the U-joints binding so I decided I needed to drop my transmission crossmember a bit to alleviate some of that angle.

Here is the midshaft.

Fortunately I work at a machine shop within 5 miles of my house and the shop I have my truck at. So I ran over to work today and whipped up some aluminum spacers.

Here they are installed:

I also remounted my front shocks to increase the amount of droop I can get out of them. I also took the time to put the 1410 yoke on the front.

Those spacers look sweet. Truly custom. Love that stuff.

There were a ton of 7075 aluminum butt ends in the scrap bin from a job. Free access to scrap for machining is nice.

Wyoming the support and compliments really help with giving me some motivation on this build.
Your truck is looking good too.

Lol! I keep thinking mine is "Custom build mild" and yours is "Custom build spicy"! Or, big brother, little brother.

I can hear the salesman:
"What we have here is a Toyota FJ60 with a Cummins four-cylinder, but if you want something truly over the top I have an FJ60 with a Cummins six-cylinder."

I like that, custom build spicy, it sounds like a sauce at taco bell or something.
But that is a good way too look at it, its a shame all of the other cool builds are nowhere near me.

There should be a meetup for all of the guys with Cummins swaps into cruisers to do some trails or something.

We should definitely do that! We should pick something in the middle of the country, like Windrock, TN.

While I don't have my motor installed just yet, there are more and more of us, aren't there? Seems like every couple of months there is another guy putting a CTD into a cruiser.

Nice to hear from you Johhny,

It does seem like a popular swap, I guess with more people doing it and documenting it has become less daunting.

you guys are making me want to save some more pennies and get a Cummins... My 6.2 is a slug compared to the Cummins, but it is still an oil burner :D...

Johnny good to hear you got most of your trans/tcase stuff ironed out... The stuff to do an auto is a no brainer... almost ...

SteveO your truck is sweet too... Makes me want some 40s...

I'm in for seeing all the fj60 cummins smokers in one place! Let's keep turning the "small" truck world upside down!!!!

Keep it up Stevo. Your rig is looking sweeter and sweeter! Can't wait for it to drive out of the shop.

I'm all for it! Let's shoot for late next spring or early next summer. Maybe a little bit farther west than TN for those of our Cali brothers. Kansas or Nebraska. Remember those western states are pretty darn big.

But seriously, we need to start planning now.

Yeah man! I have been doing more reading than posting lately as I learn more about the CTDs so thanks for helping build my knowledge base :grinpimp:

As you said Chris, at least you're putting a oil burner in your truck!

As for my driveline, I'll call it ironed out when it's installed and able to move my truck:hillbilly:

Definitely start saving up. A 6BT isn't too expensive and if you can find a donor truck the swap is pretty straightforward.
And the 43's are gonna be sweet off-road I can't wait to try them out.

I just heard from the driveshaft guy today, and they will be ready next week.
After that there isn't much keeping me from driving it out of the shop.
I hope to have everything finished up before I get my gas tank back in 3 weeks.

I'm down, just make sure it isn't one of those flat states where there is no place to wheel.
