Nice...real nice :grinpimp:

Man I wish we had LPG filling station on every Gas Station, I just heard on the radio about a local distributing company that switched to LPG or Compressed Natural Gas and they are paying and listen to this $1.15 per gallon and its better for the engine to. All the big Oil companies don't want to loose any business and they don't allow LPG or CNG filling stations to be build on their properties. So SAD!!!!

Great looking 80 how big is your LPG Tank, i have heard that the tanks are pretty small and this is the only draw back.

What is the MPG or KPL?

My LPG tank is 25 Gallons... LPG tanks are big, but CNG are small and heavy, we have both fuels here in Dominican Republic. CNG is great, but there is a huge draw back on the tanks, since CNG is highly compressed, the tanks are heavy and strong to be able to hold the pressure, just like Scuba tanks, so it is impossible to fit a 25 gallon CNG tank on a Car or SUV,because of the weight a tank that big can only go big trucks and semis. All this comes down to autonomy on CNG, you get about 75 miles per tank on a car or SUV, a gallon of CNG here is about 0.90 dollars...

I get about 18 km per gallon of LPG, compared to abot 12 on Gasoline, LPG is less than half the cost of Gasoline... we dont have 94 octanes gasoline here, the best we get is about 90.

Most of the fleet vehicles we converted to LPG lost about 20 - 30% on the mileage. Runs nice and clean (longer lasting plugs and oil), and is cheaper to buy - just have to figure out the cost benefit to efficiency

LPG never get's much popular here coz the power lost when using it .. same in your case .?

Definitely... There are two systems widely used here in Dominican Republic, one is obviously more expensive than the other.... One goes direct through the injectors and the other one goes to the throtle body after passing throug what they call a burner..... the one through the injector for a 6 cyl engine is about 2,000 dollars, the other one is about 1,500 dollars.

These 2 are the most widely used, but there should be about 10 other brands and systems...

My 80 came with the cheap one and the power loss is noticeable, when I switch to gasoline on the fly, I can feel the surge.... I will be changing mine soon to the more expensive one, which has no power loss and a bit more efficient...

I can tell you that for the amount of money I save with my system, I don't mind the power loss, which should be about 20%... When I'm wheeling I try to use gasoline on climbs... And I always have a half tank of gasoline, each time I put LPG I add a coulpe of gallons of gasoline, that way I always have enough for when I need it....

Yeah, but it's stock! (sarcasm)

Seriously though, if CNG is $0.80 "per gallon" and gasoline (benzene + ethanol (yuk)) is around $4.00 then it only takes a few years for ROI.

Plus, it's cleaner for the engine by far, you can advance timing a ton to keep the same performance, and finally eliminate the EGR stuff because you really won't need it. Almost forgot, benefits the environment too.

Plus, it'd be badass to have an underside filled with air tanks!

Nice rig!

From what I understand CNG is rated at 130 octane. So how is there a power loss with a more volatile fuel? I've researched this as a hybrid system using the unused spare tire section as the spot for another tank. I've found a company out of Utah (CNG Outfitters | Your guide to CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) conversions. who will do the conversion - but it will cost you dearly.
As the demand increases, I'm sure we'll see more fill stations and companies that make this conversion more feasible. Hell, why can't we all get a govt grant to do this so we are all more efficient and burn cleaner?? Just like the grant they want to give me for solar panels on my house...

I have not used CNG yet, but it is widely used in DR, I don't think there is a power loss with CNG, I'm sure there is with LPG.... I also have my LPG tank on the spare tire location, good enough for 25 gallons, there also the option of carrying a tank in luggage compartment, but it takes a lot of your carrying space....

Can you post photos of the LPG tank and any other LPG stuff under the hood.
