My local auto parts store had the fuel filter in stock... he had to order the air filter... be in tomorrow. He couldn't find any info on the oil cartridge... even couldn't find Toyota making a 3.6 diesel..lol. I have not changed oil yet, i'll do that here friday. I was planning on using Rotella since thats what i have used for 15 years in my dodge cumins... you guys think thats ok?

Also...if someone could tell me what cartridge oil filter to get i would appreciate it.

Thanks

it is a 2h right?
Napa Gold Oil Filter 1627 - Cross from LF3399 and Toyota 15601-68010
Rotella is good oil...

even if the bugger doesn't run the first time, keep videoing...makes the starting all that much more sweet...

No, I havent started it up yet...been waiting on the correct oil cartridge. Daniel @ Wimberly 4X4 outside of Austin had them in stock so i made a trip up there last saturday and picked up 2 of them. Super nice guy & extremely helpful with all my thousands of questions!

Drained the oil last weekend, pulled the glow plugs, did the mystery oil in the cylinders, Ohmed out all the glow plugs (all were good), installed a new battery & changed fuel filter. I noticed that when i rolled the key from "off" to the "Accessory" position, that nothing happened...no lights at all on the dash. I found what looks like a 10awg black wire that was broken close to the battery so i temporary attached it to the + terminal. Now when i turned the key to the "Accessory" position, all the lights on the dash came on.

Since i still had the glow plugs out and i now had power to the truck, i decided to see if the started would spin ( i had already hand turned the crank to make sure it wasent frozen). Cranked on the switch for a few seconds and low & behold, it spun very easily and i was getting little puffs of smoke/Myster oil shooting out of all the glow plug holes.

Work lately has kept me from working on it every day but i plan to reinstall the tank this weekend and try and fire it up.

Fixed it.

I'm exited and it is not even my rig.

FluffyBunnySui must not be able to sleep at night.

x2.

He's probably got it started and is out and about cruising it all around the town....

(at least, that's what happened in my mind)

Im guessing it didnt turn out to be the barn find of the century.

I see his engine starting OK but then disaster striking!

His tie (Yes - I see him wearing a long bright-yellow tie) gets caught around his crank pulley and gradually pulls him down into his engine bay where he meets a grissly end.

:skull: RIP
