Neither if torqued correctlyBlue or red loctite on suspension hardware during lift install?
ok gotcha....I think I have most of the torque values.Neither if torqued correctly
I'm in the process of rust mitigation on my '08. I have several bolt holes to address.
1) Can anyone recommend a tap and die set that is affordable and good-enough quality?
2) Besides tapping the hole, did you do anything else to clean-out the rust?
Is there a list of items to check for when purchasing? I looked through the FAQs and other various links, but didn't find a dedicated list of "gotchas" like I've seen with other trucks. I've got my truck picked out (2016 w/ 67k) and planning to pick up this weekend. Looks like in great shape being sold by a Toyota dealer about 5 hours from me.
Things like, is the rear entertainment remote included? Check for the cracked radiator. Is the cool box functioning? Has the "xxx" service been completed for its mileage?
Of course, I can check the typical things as with any vehicle. A checklist for 200-specific items to watch out for?
Thanks!

I have a 2016 and this is what I would check if I were you;
Check
the sun shade mirror lights work. (for girls and their make-up - it has quit working on mine.
The brakes what is the wear especially the front. have pads been replaced?
not have them check but you go check they have been lubricating the drive shafts each oil change. simple change the oil and look for the fresh lub on the drive shaft. .. not them you go look. Many service centers skip this and drive shafts are expensive.
Where has the truck been driven up north or florida .. look for rust on frame and lower parts.
check the parking assist
The rear info system, sure it will not work with out the remote but that whole system is just garbage. Best removing it and putting some mini ipad holders there.
Have them demo it working to verify what I think about it.
Tires if they are worn down neg. for some 34's. x 11 wide.
Are the Land Cruiser rubber car mats in place? Many dealers take the used mats out and toss them and do not put the nice rubber mats back in. If they are missing ask for them. The Land Cruiser ones are nice and of quality. There are 2 mats in the front, 2nd seat mat, 3 row mat and a cargo mat.
Look very closely at the steering wheel for wear or leather infections .. neg if any found. That wheel is $$.
Look very close for scratches or dings.
Did they change the trans fluid? verify.
Same to diff and transfer case maintenance .. check for it.
the 2016 has the newer rad, so you can look at the rad to double check, the older version looks different. Where the cap is in the center one is smooth and the other kind of modled different. there is a thread on here to see the difference.
Check the TPS system is showing correctly on the dash with all 5 tire pressures.
Verify your phone can blue tooth connect.
Two additional important ones:
Take a wrench with a 5mm hex driver, crawl under the truck and see if you can crack open the TPMS bleeders. Just bump them open, do NOT turn more than a turn or so at the most!
Also, open the door in the back of the glove box, start the truck, then cycle the HVAC from fresh/recirc, make sure the damper in front of the cabin air filter properly goes up and down. Don't touch the damper, just observe.
If either are not functional, you should make them fix them prior to final delivery. Both are expensive repairs.
OH YEAH, make sure the trailer connector harness is installed at the back of the truck, to the right of the rear crossmember. That is supposed to be installed by the original selling dealer. If it's not there, they owe you a harness.
I think @KLF meant "crack open the KDSS valves". A search on KDSS will explain why this is a good item to check. Two additional important ones:

Thank you. I was leaning a bit towards something like this but needed a real review (as many reviews online are paid by the company).I grabbed a Husky set from Home Depot ( Husky SAE/Metric Ratcheting Tap and Die Set (77-Piece)-HTAPDIE75PC - The Home Depot - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-SAE-Metric-Ratcheting-Tap-and-Die-Set-77-Piece-HTAPDIE75PC/311182591 ). It's been fine and came with SAE and metric. Shows "on sale" for ~$90, but I want to say I got it for like $65 or something not too long ago. Saved my butt when installing my ARB swingout trying to clear some powdercoat.
Now THAT makes sense. Couldn’t wrap my head around a TPMS valve.I think @KLF meant "crack open the KDSS valves". A search on KDSS will explain why this is a good item to check.
It’s nothing special. Maybe if you’re tapping holes all the time like a machine shop it would make sense to get something a bit nicer. But the occasional need for home work, it’s perfect.Thank you. BumpDoes anyone know what fuse is used for the third row seats? I’ve hooked up to the 12v from the seat I removed to be used to lower my 12v cooler.
