Sounds like you all did the right thing yet are getting squeal.

These brakes shims do wear even if it doesn't appear so, and with a looser fit has opportunities to squeal. Might also try applying grease to them, if there wasn't, particularly on the sides/ears of the brake pad. The sides and ears of the pad, where they contact the shims or caliper frame directly.

Below is the part numbers for the hardware and what my local toyota dealership is charging for the hardware. The front shim kit is a bit expensive since front pads are about $55.00.

1Disc Brake Anti-Rattle Clip Set (Rear) 0494860040
$10.92

1SHIM KIT, ANTI SQUEAL, FRONT 0494560080
$31.94

1Disc Brake Anti-Rattle Clip Set (Front) 0494760140
$5.51

1SHIM KIT, ANTI SQUEAL(FOR REAR DISC BRAKE) 0494660120
$13.65

Those prices for brake parts look great to me after having to have the brakes on my 2017 G63 done about a year ago. Even getting an employee discount from a buddy who worked at the dealership it was a $$$$ job. This is one of the reasons I made the switch.

Got flashed 20 times last night which means I need to realign my headlights. I plan on doing the wall 5ft/25ft taping method. Is there anything I need to take into consideration with a lift and tires? Or any other suggestions to do it right

My 2014 has a height adjustment on the left side of the dash, although I don't know if that is consistent on all years.

I have a new 2021 and I don't see one on the dash. I don't belive my model year has one. My tundra had one and it was awsome. I havn't had time to do a good alignment so I did 2 on the fly adjustments until it seemed "ok".

SQOD When you renew your license plates, do you remove the old sticker or just place the new one over the old. And if you do remove the old, how do you go about it. As they’re tamper proof ( at least in Missouri) it’s been a frustrating endeavor when I’ve tried in the past.

Do what makes you happy...but they’re deliberately difficult to remove.

Personally, I get a weird kick out letting them pile up. ...Sorta like rings in a tree trunk...a little stack o history. :hillbilly:

Yep. Like I said, just decided to slap em on there. In the end trying to remove them just seemed like a waste of time:bang: I’ve had my LC for 10 years now, but this is only the second sticker in the pile. Reason being is that Missouri issued everyone new plates for the states centennial. As I plan to keep my truck forever I’m sure the pile will get thick🤣

Yeah it’s a roller wheel, I have it on my 2013. It should be set to 0. When you’re towing something heavy you’re front will raise up, you would then adjust your headlights lower by rolling the headlight adjustment wheel to bring them down.

Mine is currently at 0 and its way to low. Anyone have a quick link on how to adjust them up? I believe the adjust holes for the screws are at the top of the radiator shroud.

The screws are marked and the directions to turn them are on the plastic under the hood IIRC.

I ended up paying the dealer to do mine. Lame, I know, but I couldn't get to the driver's side one without removing the battery, and I didn't have a big wall with a completely flat road nearby I could point my truck at to do the alignment. Sadly both my garage and alley are NOT at all level...

The headlight leveling discussion has me scratching m y head...the owner's manual for my 2018 LC talks about an automatic headlight leveling feature. My 2006 Avalon has it too. I haven't seen any evidence of it working on the LC as I don't think I've loaded it down enough in the rear but I have seen it work on the Avalon when the trunk gets really loaded and/or we have 2 passengers in the rear.

REF: 2018 LC Owner's Manual
4-3. Operating the lights and wipers
Automatic headlight leveling system
The level of the headlights is automatically adjusted according to the number
of passengers and the loading condition of the vehicle to ensure that the
headlights do not interfere with other road users.

I just looked at the dash switches and the manual. Mine doesn't have the wheel. I have adjusted the headlights with an 8mm socket. I am curious though if anything special has to be done with a lift and larger tires.

Lexus and Toyota advertise a ceramic heating element for the cabin to rapidly warm during cold weather.

Ive started the LX at -15F and heat didn’t blow until the needle moved on the temperature gauge (when the thermostat opens).

Does it actually exist/do anything?

If the temp is 50F or less, you have to turn the heat on high for both driver and passenger, turn the fan speed on full, and set it to blow only on the windshield. It'll start blowing warm air in 1-2 minutes

Hmmm - too bad it doesn’t work on auto. Are those specifics in the manual?

Not sure about the manual but it's described in the FSM

Well, I'll be. I wasn't aware of this feature. Gonna have to try that out.

Anyone with a 2016+ and an iPhone figure out how to do speech to text and Siri when driving and connected to the truck via Bluetooth?

I use speech to text for text messages (at stop signs and red lights!) and it’s annoying that it doesn’t work when my phone is Bluetooth connected to the trucks audio system.

TIA for any help!

I just got a '16, so I don't have much seat time yet, but there is a Siri Eyes Free feature that isn't quite Car Play, but lets you do calls, texts, etc. over bluetooth. Press and hold the off hook button to activate it.
