OZTENT / Clone owners - Where does one put an oztent for transport? They're like 7ft long folded up . . . is it roof rack only? SQ followup - how much noise do you get with it on your rack? Do you reget having to have it up there? How's the ownership experience?

I have a RV-5 that I used to carry on my FR rack on my 100 series. Worked great, very little noise, fit perfect. You will get sun fading and UV-damage on the bag over time.

I sold that truck and do not have an aftermarket rack on the 200 so am looking for a good way to transport now. It's a really nice tent but bulky.

You just unfurled your 270 awning. You kick yourself again for getting it on the wrong side. Which side should you have gotten? Left (driver US), Right (passenger US)

Funny you bring that up as I’ve thought about this a lot. I’ve pretty much decided that for me, I’d want it on the passenger side. The scenario that keeps coming to mind is pulling off to the side of the road somewhere to maybe stop for awhile, like a scenic overlook or something. Maybe decide to have a snack and enjoy it for awhile. Go to open the awning....drivers side puts it in the traffic lane / road...
Now if you have a rear bumper with swing outs, or your fridge / kitchen is setup a certain way in the back of your truck that could dictate which direction you go. For me that’s not a concern yet.

I removed the spare tire out of the back of the truck for additional space for a Lowe's run expecting the yellow triangle warning light to come up when I got far enough away from the garage. To my surprise it did not. I then thought that it may come on after re-starting the truck for the ride back home, as the spare would not be around to be scanned by the computer. It did not come on then either. When checking the tire pressure screen, the tire removed showed "Checking" while the others read normal with zero dash warning lights. After replacing the spare, everything worked normal as you would expect.

Not really a question, I was just curious what you all thought on the subject. I was under the impression all 5 tires needed to be on the truck for the triangle Warning light to be off. It appears that is not the case. Maybe you all already knew that.

I also use the interior tire carrier mod created by FlightMedic178 but I doubt that plays any role in this.

Not advocating rolling around without a spare, but good to know you don't have to deal with the eye sore if you are running only 4 tires for a brief moment.

This is normal. It takes quite awhile, fools you into thinking that it is ignoring the missing sensor. Then a few days later DING the light turns on.

If you leave it out for a while you'll get the light. I had one of my sensors go out and it would show checking, luckily it would occasionally start working. Now that it does not work and I haven't put much effort into fixing it I have the warning like saying "Check Tire Pressure System"

Can I grease my SPC uppers with the same grease I use for driveshaft?

I'm sure the answer has gotta be here somewhere.. but can't figure out the correct search words to use to find the answer. :flush:

It depends on your swingouts and RTT setup, if you have them. My tire swings out on the driver side so the awning is on the passenger side to reduce the obstruction in the middle of the corner. I would prefer it on the driver side for RTT access from the passenger side but that’s a lesser problem.

Figured I would ask here before posting to the main section.

Anyone know what amount of current the factory starter motor draws under average conditions (few years old, 70 deg F)? I am guessing 200A-300A but honestly not sure.

Does anyone have a picture of the backside of the AC plug in the DS cargo area? Is the inverter right there behind the panel or somewhere else?

The fuel door won’t open on my 2015 LX570. The fuel door mechanism has a small plastic rod which is actuated to open/close. On Saturday, I went to pump some gas and pulled the fuel door handle with no luck. So, I ended up taking it to the dealer. Has any one experienced a similar problem before? I searched and found no results.

Here is the plug (black loom, black plug):

I think the big silver box right behind it may be the inverter:

I've had that issue on a 4Runner due to the little spring that pops the door open failing. You can try sticking a credit card it the gap to pry it open while someone else pulls the lever. I can't remember exactly, but I think I got a new spring on eBay for five bucks or so.

I was on a parts site when this came up, here is the part # for the spring: Fuel Door Spring - Toyota (77360-35040) List Price:$5.55

Good find. Ours broke as well and I couldn't find that part to save my life. Had the wife get it fixed when she took it in for an oil change. I have a feeling this won't be the last time someone needs one of these. It's a lousy design.

Is where you pul the lever seated correctly? I had a similar issue, but it was cause I didn't set the cable back correctly after removing the panel so it wasn't actually pulling the cable when I pulled the latch to open the fuel door.

Thanks to everyone who replied. My wife told me that she found a spring when she pumped gas last time. She wasn’t sure where it came from and put it away then forgot about it. So this part costs $5 and the labor about $275 (diagnosis and dealer tech hours).

@tabraha I agree that it’s a design flaw. Funny how a big gas guzzler can depend on such a simple but non trivial part.
