Starts an interior dust/particle filter than runs for a bit and then stops automatically. So...if you are riding a long and want to activate it, it does this sort of along side the AC.

Thanks to everyone who replied. My wife told me that she found a spring when she pumped gas last time. She wasn’t sure where it came from and put it away then forgot about it. So this part costs $5 and the labor about $275 (diagnosis and dealer tech hours).

@tabraha I agree that it’s a design flaw. Funny how a big gas guzzler can depend on such a simple but non trivial part.
$275 in labor to replace a fuel door spring that the tech should have identified in 5 minutes max. You need to talk to the dealer, that is insane.

"interior dust/particle filter" A.K.A. "cabin air filter" ;)

Have you read your owner's manual?

Ha.
Always funny how few do.

I have a PDF of it on my phone so I can actually see it...

Honestly there are a lot of hidden gems in the manual... Definitely worth scouring through. Custom key settings, nifty open all windows from outside with remote...close all with outside door... Which doors you want to unlock with handle sensors...and on and on.

For starters, look in index for customization.

Very true. I imagine many of the questions in this thread could be answered by reading the manual, some of mine included  :poof:

‘I’ve read the entire manual:flipoff2:...I have tried using this feature several times in a dusty environment and remain skeptical that it actually does anything. Am I alone?

I can totally appreciate your opinion on this. When I first tried this feature (after seeing it in the Manual) I admit I was not impressed, But I thought about it a bit and realized that if my Cabin Air Filter (CAF) is the crap stock filter that doean't even seal around the edges, why would I expect it to filter out anything smaller than a tree branch?

So over some time, I've tried various CAF options from the very expensive Toyota Carbon CAF, to other offerings from various and sundry manufacturers - even the re-usable K&N CAF (too restrictive).

What I learned is, if you use a quality Carbon CAF that is not too restrictive and has a good seal around ALL the edges, this special filter feature can indeed be quite effective.

My most common use for this feature is when Bubba Bro in his 6" lifted diesel pickup (sorry if this hits a little too close to home for any of you) purposely leaves a dense cloud of diesel smoke when leaving a stop light or passing on the highway. Click on the filter and the bad smell never enters the passenger cabin. As an added bonus, it turns itself off after a reasonable amount of time. But if you have a cheap CAF, this does not work - the smell passes right through/around the cheap filter and renders the feature useless.

So, I guess the bottom line is the answer to the question, "Why should I spend more than $1.50 for a CAF?" Because a good CAF will actually filter stuff.

HTH

Edit to add:

Here are two that worked well for me:
Mahle CAF on Amazon
Cleenaire CAF on Amazon

Thanks gaijin...I’ve got a cleenaire in now. I’ll go find a diesel Bubba to play with to see if that works.

I use the Cleenaire as well. Seems to fit well but haven't had much time with it yet.

LX570 - I can't figure out how to get the memory seat functions to work, any tips?? I have followed youtube videos etc.

Now that people have posted good cabin air filters, what are some recommended air filters for the engine bay?
OEM only for me. They're as cheap as most others, so why not? Plus I hate K&Ns and similar....
