Thanks everyone for the help. I was able to finally get the broken bolt out with some vise grips on the one thread that was still sticking out. My local Toyota dealer was not helpful in sourcing the bolts so I matched the original bolts at a hardware store. I’m not sure of the correct grade, but I bought grade 10.9. I can confirm the correct thread pitch on all three is 1.25.

Before I reinstall the water pump, I’m wondering if I should address the metal surface that the gasket attaches to in the photo below? It feels a bit rough and uneven. I also noticed a bit of rust. Maybe a light polish with a dremel?

Pump the brakes on the Dremel! I'm sure people will chime in, but you can do some damage in a hurry using power tools on that sealing surface, and you won't be able to easily undo it. There are more controlled ways to clean up your gasket mating surface by hand.

3M Scotchbrite biscuit in a die grinder is what I always use.

Agree with Eyedaho. Plus the surface you are talking about is aluminum so not likely rust. But certainly soft.

Has anyone updated their headlamp housing? Have an 08 and thinking of updating to the 13-15 housing since it has an LED strip and projector lamp. One of my lamps is yellowing, I did the restoration kit but it still doesn't look as good as the other.

I did it and am not happy at all with it. If you go for it, go OEM. 100%. Mine are about 2 years old and I wax them along with using Wolfgang plastik sealant and they're already cracking and yellowing.

Pretty sure this isn’t plug and play...but I’ve been wrong many times before.

I’d suggest sticking with original housing type, but then upgrade to LED for both hi and lo beams. Output result is incredible on mine.

Thanks @Cruisin911 for the input.
@liv2bike I figured that might be the case and wasn't sure if it'd be a hard job
@Markuson I've got LEDs for lo, hi, and fogs. Love the output, others hate me but oh well. One of the previous owners had been in a front end accident, so driver side lamp is new while the passenger one is original. I tried to buff it to get it to look like new. However, it is starting to haze again. Was thinking if I'm going to pay the money for new factory housing if upgrading would be smart.

How to I play music on the LC200 stereo using my android phone?

On my phone I use that AIMP to play music ... but how to I get it to play on the LC200 system?

Is there a way to load mp3's or mp4 on to the LC200 system?

You don't connect via bluetooth?

With most 200s you can simply connect your phone via bluetooth and play audio that way. Early 200s (08-09?) don't have bluetooth audio capabilities without extra modules, but they do have an aux in port that you can play audio through. If you have an early 200, and an iphone without a headphone jack though, I can't help you.

As far as I know, there is no way to upload music files to the OEM 200 audio system (any year).

Just load up a mini USB thumb drive and plug it in the usb AUX port.

Thanks that worked.

An easy and cheap way to add BT audio compatibility to older cruisers and LXs is to add an Amazon Echo Auto (Alexa) by way of the AUX 1/8 stereo jack input.

Dan,

I second the response here as I am in Northern Cal and take a few trip a year up to Tahoe and my wife lived there for 6 years and has said the same thing. My ‘13 LC with Wildpeaks passed her test as very good performer in near white out conditions near Bear Valley last year. She said the truck felt solid and never felt a loss of traction. She likes to drive when is snowing being she likes to feel in control and has far more experience driving in the snow than I. Hopefully you will not have too many issues with your KO2. Have fun!

Hi Dan. I'm an avid skier from SoCal and have seen it all through the state in Big Bear, Mammoth, or Tahoe through the 25 years of ski trips.

A major reason I own the LX and the mods I have is for this very type of travel. To avoid ever dealing with chains again.

Generally in CA, if it were bad enough for them to enforce chain install on a 4WD, especially one with tires rated with three-peak mountain snowflake symbol, the road will have been shut down. The enforcement will only be to ask if you're carrying chains. I don't even bother carrying chains anymore and just say yes, I have them.

Back to tires, I specifically sought Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws for their cold weather performance (3W in the name for wear, winter, and wet performance). I've had AT tires on my LX470 that weren't great in snow and cold weather. As I don't live in snow country, I needed a single tire that does great in all conditions. I'd say the KO2s are not ideal as they tend to use a firmer compound that turns hard in cold weather. The Falkens have absolutely performed great in the mixed, and sometimes severe ski weather I've come across.

It isn't, but its really, really easy to adapt the wiring. I was worried about it and sourced a bunch of wiring diagrams but just jumped in and did it. Nothing complicated about it at all. Didn't even need the diagrams.

whew, just read the entire thread. lots to digest! very very helpful!

It's a pretty common issue. Just replaced all 4 of mine today. ~$36 for each of the 4 pieces.

front left 7572060070
front right 7571060070
rear left 7574060050
rear right 7573060050

Took all of 5 minutes for all 4. Just rip the old ones out and slide the new ones in.

steenh/Markuson, do you pull up on one edge and they pull right out and the new pieces just slide right back into place? That simple?

TIA

Yep, it's that easy.

Thanks, got them ordered. I'm glad I stumbled onto this as I had no idea what all would be involved in having them replaced. Never would have thought it was going to be a quick $150 fix. Lost track of how much money saved and issues resolved by insight from you and the rest of the forum. Its in the thousands at this point i'm sure...
