What have you guys done with your brakes? Replaced with stock or gone aftermarket? If aftermarket, are you happy with your choice?

My pads need to be replaced and the rotors have 100k miles on them, not sure if they have ever been turned.

OEM rotors and pads. After many many years playing with aftermarket stuff, I find that the OEM really walk a better balance of qualities, durability, and quality control. You might (or might not) get better peak braking, but at the cost of cold braking performance, noise/dust, wear, or other compromises. It's a crapshoot with aftermarket stuff at times, especially with the smaller name stuff. OEMs have to verify and validate performance.

Anyone find the insurance on their LX to be crazy expensive? I just got my renewal for 2018, and the premium on the 2008 LX is more than double what it is on my 2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road double cab! With no changes in drivers, credit history, claims, etc. my renewal is $700 more every 6 months for just the 2 trucks!! I have a feeling that is mostly due to the record hail storms we had in my zip code and nearby this past May that had losses in the billions for insurance companies, but wow I was not expecting this especially since I have no claims nor tickets or anything. I just went online to competitors and saw far better prices, but I'm curious if others are seeing the same sticker shock. I found it odd that my 08 LX premium is about 80% higher than my 14 LC which was valued probably $35k more.

Makes no sense at all.

The LX is has 2 more HP than the LC. The insurance folks know that the LX crowd is out drag racing with that extra power, hence the higher premiums...

As cheesy as they are, I've had good luck with Gieco. For the 200, it's six months for $347, $50 comprehensive, $500 collision, Roadside service and rental reimbursement up to $1500.

Wow that's super cheap! What are your limits? Geico is who I have and am switching from actually. With $250k/$500k limits and a $500 deductible on both collision and comprehensive, this renewal period jumped to nearly $1,800 (for only 6 months o_O) for the 08 LX and Tacoma with the LX being close to 70% of the total premium. This is with no claims, no tickets, FICO 836/850, auto insurance score 921/950, married, own our home, etc. Last year when I had the 14 LC and 06 RX with same coverage, I think I was paying about $800 every six months. I can only surmise the massive increase is due to all the claims in our area this past year which caused virtually every structure within about 10 miles to get a new roof and caused thousands of vehicles to get totaled from hail. For the ones that didn't get totaled, many people can't get their cars repaired until next year which will be longer than a year since the storm passed.

Yeah that's insane. My limits are a little lower but I recalculated them if I upped it to 250k/500k/500k and the six month for the 200 is still under $400. Weird stuff.

I just got a new quote for my 2008 lx570 from Amica for 88/month

I pay $800 every six months highest coverages $500 deductable. Only have the 2015 LX570 CS above 800. Liberty Mutual been with them for 52 years. First accident in 52 years was this year they’re not supposed to raise my rate.

I pay $321.70 every six months for my 2011 LC through Geico or $53.60 a month. Been with them over a decade. Had a couple comprehensive claims, including a deer and hail, but no other accidents. My 2012 Limited 4Runner is $47.20 a month.

I have a $100 comprehensive deductible and $500 collision. Also have emergency roadside coverage, rental reimbursement, $50k in underinsured $100/$300k Bodily Inury and $100k property damage.

I had State Farm for years, and after getting a new Tacoma in 2007, they doubled the rate from my 2003 Tacoma. Went to Geico and have been happy. They have been easy to work with on the comprehensive claims I have had, including using OEM replacement parts.

I look from time to time to see if it is worth combining home and auto to get discounts, but I have found keeping them separate give me more aren't enough to switch from Geico.

I just got a new quote for my 2008 lx570 from Amica for 88/month

also got a quote earlier and their car rates were better but the rate on the home which you have to also do to get the full discounts was $1k more that we pay now so the package was more than what I pay now.

Just insured a new to me 2010 LX and my rates went up quote a bit more than I thought they should. Being in Colorado and having vehicles insured by same company that insures two homes we have has me wondering if auto rates are artificially high because of the hail and fires here?

How do I get the plastic hitch cover off? From the manual it's clear I need to remove a pin from the bottom. The manual suggests prying if off with a screwdriver..I tried that, but it felt like it was about to snap. Is there a trick to this? Or just pry harder?

Look under the cover. You will see a black button. Take a screw driver and pop out the center of this black button. It will come lose but don’t pull it all the way out. Two clips on both sides of button. Pull up an out but hold on to cover. You don’t want to drop and scratch h it. Good luck.

This part is important. If you just push up hard on the clips, they will release and your cover will fly off and land out in the middle of your driveway. I speak from experience, just did this last week.

Anyone want to sell me the Blaze Pearl hitch cover they no longer use? I destroyed mine when I closed my garage door.
