I have a sticker on my window saying the car has remote start but I have two identical key fobs that only have three buttons. How do I verify if I have remote start?

Where does the key go if battery dies in key fob?

Press LOCK three times, continuing to hold down button on 3rd press... Should remote start if on vehicle.

NOTE: engine will stop when you open the door

To open door:

To start engine: hold key fob in contact with Start button while pressing it.

To verify presence of Remote Start if the above start procedure does not work, look on the underside of your hood to find this sticker:

If the fob is dead and you are trying to start the car from inside (there is no ignition keyhole), you touch the fob to the start button, and press the start button as normal. The engine will start...even with a dead fob battery.

Speaking of key fobs, my 2014 only came with one. Any recommendations on where to purchase a second besides the stealership? I see a few sellers on fleabay but don't know if I should trust them?

Also, any recommendations on a good quality fitted windshield sun shade?

Thanks this worked! why does engine stop when you open door? That seems counter intuitive.

Thanks for posting this, I would have never figured it out.

You're welcome. I had that picture from when another member asked how to open the door if the key fob battery died ... so you weren't the first. Since there is no place for the key to go to start the engine - that was your question, right? - I gave you the answer for the only place the key could go when the key fob battery dies. Silly question = silly answer, I guess.

Since your question was not clear, I also answered how to start the engine with a dead key fob, and where to check on your vehicle to confirm installation of the remote start feature.

You're welcome for those answers as well.

I found a sun shade at Wal-Mart made by Dickies... It is brown on one side and foil on the other side... has a plastic buckle and vinyl strap... perfect fit for $13 -$14...

Safety Feature? It's been discussed on here a lot.

Remote feature will also "time out" after probably 5 minutes or so, which I don't care for either.

I wonder if there is a way to remove these features using the TIS Techstream software?

How does the RSCA switch function? I can't get my to turn on whether I turn car off/on.

Keep holding down the rsca button for 3-5 secs while the engines running until you get the light on the dash. Side airbags should not go off if the vehicle is tilted at extreme angles, but it does reset if the vehicle is switched off and on again

Anybody knows how to download all the personal Navigation POI that have been stored in the OEM nav unit?

(Over the years I save gps coordinates on the nav unit. How do I transfer them to my next vehicle?)

This really is a great thread, i've learned so much from "stupid" questions! Thanks everyone!

So I was actually in rain this afternoon. Light rain, down pour, crazy down pour, etc. I'm wondering how you simply use the intermittent wipers? (like old school style, one click down, set the delay twist and done) It seems as though the rain sensor takes charge and the intermittent twist on the wiper handle doesn't do a thing. The wipers had a mind of their own. Intermittent, regular, super fast, slow, somewhat intermittent. Pulled off and broke out the manual but it wasn't much help...

Unfortunately, the wipers won't allow for intermittent without disconnecting the sensor. If you crave old school you could pull the cover off and unplug it. You'll get the wiper variation after.

Seriously? These things were going bezerk. Fast...slow....intermittent...more/less intermittent...did they stop?....wtf is with super speed, it's not raining nearly as hard as it was when they were just going normal... etc etc.

So distracting. Fail in technology imo. Smart wipers? Rain sensor. Ugh. Maybe you folks that live in perpetual rain enjoy them but for rain periodically if even that, uncool. To each their own. Thanks for the quick reply.

No worries, sometimes for me they're spot on and others....not so much. I've debated with myself whether or not to leave the system disconnected. I went through a lot of hassle to fix a window installers mistake with it and feel the need to get my emotions worth haha

Oh don't mention a new window, please.

Glad i never had an issue with the 100 install but shudder with thoughts of this one. Thankfully Camelback Toyota is in the back yard, for pretty much all needs! It's wonderful peace of mind when you have a dealer that pretty much specializes in LC's, thankfully to a Director of service who intimately understands our stuff and himself runs a beautiful 40 and 80.

I have not picked up my LC yet, still on order. Is there a online owners manual or a PDF that I can find somewhere? Figured I would start brushing up on the bits!

Never mind!
I found a manual online. The Toyota site wouldn't let me look at it but I found another place.
